I guess I just don't get it. I was expecting something dark and twisted from this movie but it just didn't deliver, and it was almost as if the film-makers themselves had given up the ghost at the end and allowed the whole project to sink into farce (circa the thoroughly inappropriate hillbilly music as Mad Billy-Bob Cletus or whatever his name is kicks his mini hoverboat into gear as if to chase down Scooby Doo and Shaggy). The film seems to exist for two blink-and-you'll-miss-them set piece moments in the final third (you'll recognise them when they happen) but that's nowhere near enough to sustain a credible story or to make up for the tedium of everything that happens once the two central characters meet up with the backwards ... I don't think the Urban Legends series gets the attention it deserves. The quality of the films goes down with each sequel (with the third having nothing at all to do with the first two films), but it's still a darn good trio of horror movies. This is a great buy for those who don't already have all three films (especially the first two) in their DVD libraries. Most of my high regard for the series is due to the original. Far from being a Scream clone, it is one of the most impressive slasher films of recent years, in my opinion. The suspense is sustained throughout, the identification of the killer is handled superbly, and the ending is well-nigh perfect. On Wednesday, I visited my "adopted" sister and her three children. As soon as I walked through the door, I could smell the distinct odour of illness: not only was my "sister" ill with what we thought was food-poisoning, so were her three children and her mother-in-law, who were also in the house at the time. Needless to say, the food-poisoning turned out to be a stomach bug, and I spent Thursday in bed, and not at work. Bored rigid, I dragged out and dusted off some of my old VHS (having already attempted to watch two DVD's and start a book) and decided to have a "slasher" day. I bought the BluRay because I love the movie, but I am disappointed that there are not even english subtitles on it. I expect more from a BluRay three times more expensive than a DVD.
