Damn you Amazon for not allowing 10 stars! Along with "the Wire" the best television series of this or for that matter any other decade. The scripts are sharp enough to cut diamonds. The characters are the most memorable to hit the screens in years. And with Martin Sheen, Richard Schiff, Alison Janney, Rob Lowe, Alan Alda et al you have the strongest actors on the box. There are also occasions Aaron Sorkin scripts are transcendent. Let's hope that Barrack Obama pulls him to write some of the forthcoming inauguration speech (ok it should be great in any case). It would be up there with Kennedy's or Roosevelt. The West Wing, The Wire, The Soprano's, Six Feet Under etc are all evidence that while the American century may be over you still dominate ... Tony Blair is said to have liked this series and wished he could have had a prime minister's office run like the 'west wing'. Enough said.

I would agree with those who say that this season is not as good as the early Sorkin ones, but it is still far better than most of the programs on T.V. It is therefore definitely worth buying, especially for only £17. The casting in this season continues to be excellent. Santos (Jimmy Smits) and Vinnick (Alan Alda), the main candidates for the democratic and republican nominations, are excellent throughout. The writers and actors manage to make you care about these new story-lines, an impressive feat in season 6 of any series. The beginning of the season seems to be struggling with these multiple story-lines, however, slipping into a fairly dire structure whereby the President takes up alternate episodes and the nomination candidates ... I'd advise potential buyers to be wary of some of the negative comments concerning this season. There seems to have been a campaign of sorts (be it orchestrated or accidental) to denigrate the show in the post-Aaron Sorkin & Rob Lowe era, which has generated a consensus among fans. Here, so the received wisdom goes, is the point at which the series fell into decline. Well, my own experience has been completely at odds this view. Firstly, on the issue of storytelling, Season Five does coincide with a marked change in tone and style. There is, on the whole, less narrative innovation. The very best season of the series takes off in rocket pace after the season 1 cliffhanger of the shooting at Roslyn. It continues with some of the best acting I have ever seen on any screen. Janel Moloney's performance, the look on Donna's face when she learns Josh has been shot is nothing short of breathtaking. And likewise, Brad Whitford's portrayal of Josh' post traumatic stress disorder in "Noël" (quite possibly the best episode of the entire series) is equally captivating. We also get some good flashbacks, showing us how the gang got together in the first place. While recovering from those events, political life ensues, and brings the now well-known Emily Procter into her first major TV role as a republican attorney given a job at the democratic White House. ... I was a bit unsure about this film, I'd read a bad review of it, but I decided to try it anyway, simply because I like the 2 actors in it. It actually turned out to be a really good film and I enjoyed it a lot. It was funny and full of twists, I never knew what was going to happen next and the unpredictability was great. It's the best film I've seen in a long while and I highly recommend it to anyone.

I was a bit unsure about this film, I'd read a bad review of it, but I decided to try it anyway, simply because I like the 2 actors in it. It actually turned out to be a really good film and I enjoyed it a lot. It was funny and full of twists, I never knew what was going to happen next and the unpredictability was great. West Wing is the best modern drama series ever produced. although at times slightly left wing in its political agenda for the more conservative viewer, Sorkin weaves a masterful display of script writing which, is disturbingly close to current affairs, however the show is only as strong as its weakest cast member, fortunately ,there isn't any weak members, so its ok, From martin Sheen A Commander and Chief that the US would rejoice in, if they had to the assistant deputy chief of staff, there is a seemless genius to the program, which tries to not only be entertaining, but also provoke independent thought.
