These comedies rely on the juxtaposition and bringing together within close family circles of wildly differing points of view about how life should be led. Robert de Nero's character is the control-freak, tense, quiet, family man. He's an ex-CIA agent and he's never really going to like whoever his daughter (Teri Polo) decides to marry. She wants to marry Ben Stiller. The problem is that Stiller's father (Dustin Hoffman) is a laid-back house-husband and his mother (Barbra Streisand) is a sex-therapist for the over-60s.

As other reviewers have written, this set up allows for some genuine masterly comic situations that will have you screaming out loud with laughter on first viewing. But this kind of comedy relies largely on the factor ... Read More:

People who like this kind of thing will probably find that this is the kind of thing that they like.

For everyone else, this is 1 good film (man of mystery), 1 average film (they spy who shagged me) and 1 poor film (goldmember) all together in a rather nice looking box.

The second 2 films left me a bit cold to be honest, but if you Myers or these films then you cant really do worse than this good value boxset.

Mike Myers (Shrek) writes and stars in this spy spoof sequel as Dr Evil travels back to the 60's to steal Austin's mojo in a plan to take over the world.

International man of mystery was excellent, goofy yet sophisticated with daft humour and interesting characters and a real comedy take on the spy genre. This critically acclaimed sequel follows the same route with the same weird and wonderful central protagonist Austin Powers who has a new sidekick, Felicity Shagwell, played with some charm by Heather Graham.

Myers also throws in an array of new characters, all comically arranged for extra humour, such as Mini Me, Fat B*****d and Robin Spitz Swallows, all interesting and crude in their own way, a useful technique in the spoof ... Read More:

better the second flick but not as gold as the first movie this a passable comedy that ticks all the boxes.but the film is worth watching for the opening sequence alone which is hysteriacal

First of all, I haven't seen "Meet the Parents" so I had no preconceived ideas about what to expect ... other than the fact that I tend to like Robert de Niro films.

The obvious stars in this film were Streisand, Hoffman and de Niro. Stiller just seemed like someone who'd gatecrashed a party and did very little of note throughout the film. Anyone could have played the part.

The plot was as you'd expect from a mainstream family comedy ... just a one-gag situation (ex CIA meets hippies) with a few additional scenes thrown in to get the laughs. It really did seem as though someone had a few jokes and simply wove them into the script as several were underplayed (the bathroom privacy scene, as noted in another review) or the "long lost ... This film isn't the best of the three, but this is still a complete classic. It has a good storyline, great humour throughout and great characters; Dr Evil especially. Best character no doubt. The humour is great, such as the names of some characters such as Number Two and Alotta Fagina; then there's hilarious moments, such as when Dr Evil freezes himself along with his cat Mr Bigglesworth, which loses it's fir. Then there's Mr Bigglsworth's face at the end of the film when it's re-frozen.

The film stars Mike Myers as Austin and Dr Evil, Elizabeth Hurley as Vanessa Kensington, Michael York as Basil and introduces Seth Green as Dr Evil's son Scott Evil. It also features a couple of actors I had never heard of, who suit their rolls well; Robert Wagner ... Read More:

I'm not American, and I'm not a bloke who like's sports. In fact I am a woman who generally prefers figure-skating to Ice Hockey. And yet I loved this movie. Originally it was one of a handful of rentals in a Dvd shop that we wouldn't have bothered with if there was anything else we would have thought worth watching; and that would've been a mistake. This movie made me laugh and cry in equal measures, and I found I held my breath in the way male friends assure me they do just before their home team scores a goal a few minutes towards the end of the match. A sweet and pleasant movie, best watched a cold wet sunday whilst curled up under a blanket. Not to be missed.

There are some hilarious moments in this film which a lot of people will be able to relate to - the anxiety that stems from meeting their girlfriend's parents for the first time. The story goes along at a gentle pace and if you're expecting the kind of heavy-handed gangster type action from Robert de Niro that often accompanies him in a film, you'll be disappointed. Here he plays a woman's father who is suspicious of her boyfriend and very protective and possessive of his child, but who can nevertheless be reasoned with - eventually! Ben Stiller puts in a fine performance as the nervous and accident prone boyfriend of de Niro's daughter.
