This film looks very good, the set, cinematography and initially the atmosphere, but the more i watched it the more i was left bemused as to why a posh english couple were fighting for the Soviet Union, allot of the accents are bad in this film but at least they're making some effort.
The film starts to get quite interesting when the German sniper comes on the scene but then the love story starts to develop and thats the point when you want to switch it off.
This film is mildly entertaining ( if you can cope with the dodgy accents ), but i think Jude Law is a terrible actor and if you, like me can't stand the guy then stay well away.

This review is dedicated to the people of Tibet , and the dream that one day Tibet may be free of the detestable Red Chinese occupation.
It is a brilliant movie , which shows the beautiful and peaceful Tibetan culture ,and then focuses on how it is cruelly destroyed by Mao's unspeakable regime.
It also focuses on the life of Austrian mountain climber Heinrich Harrer (Brad Pitt) focusing on how an arrogant and self-indulgent man learns humility and decency from Tibet , and from the boy Dalai Lama who was to become one of the greatest men of our time.
It begins in Nazi occupied Austria in 1939 . Harrer leaves to climb mountains ends up in Lhasa ,Tibet. Here we view a land of peace and spiritual enlightenment , such a contrast from a ... Read More:

Other reviewers have effectively described the plot, the sex and the setting. As well as all this I was especially impressed by the cinematography. It's one of those films where almost every shot would look fabulous framed on a wall, and this rich intensity of images pulls you right into the languorous and exotic world of the film. Everything it does, it does very well.

Don't waste your money. A very poor film about cavemen running around trying to find fire. Its all uggs and grunts and the action isn't that terrific. There are a lot of better films out there.

I found this film very moving and emotional. the beauty of these magnificent tigers is true greatness of the big cat family. the film opens with the two young tiger cubs and leads on to what happens to them when they become separated from there parents. the male is shot dead and the mother fakes her death and gets away. it shows just how cruel and heart-less mankind is to these animals. it is a great and very beautiful film. the real stars of course are the tigers and at the end the brothers are re-united with there mother a very moving and beautiful array of colour that these tigers have I recommend this film for all animal lovers and the beauty of tigers in general

I was being lazy when I chose to rent this DVD. I've decided to make a short cut and not to read the source novel (because anyone who's read Umberto Eco's wordy work will appreciate that it is a full time job in itself) but to watch the adaptation instead, and what a bitter disappointment it was. It's just a complete parody on "the Medieval" , Connery who is not one of my favourite actors in any event is just plain hideous and proves the point that he is not cut out for roles of this calibre. So, now I'd have to read the book after all just to see what I've missed. Moral: never make the short cuts!

A touching story of two bears with a happy ending. Of course, something like this wouldn't have happened in real life - an adult male Grizzly bear would most probably kill a strange cub. However, as it is a nice fiction, not only did they live side by side, they encounter a number of situations where they support each other and come out as the true winners! No blood, fantastic scenery and fabulous bears - a pleasure even for the adults, never mind children. Played it to our friends' under 3 sons - they watched it very attentively and seemed to understand what was going one better than us! Regarding the fact that these boys are always fidgeting, this movie kept them on the couch with no effort! Worth 6 stars.
