Yes this is basically a kids film, but as a 40+ person with no kids who has purchased the DVD, I'll happily own up to being an adult who loves this film.

This film set the benchmark for computer animated films when it was released in 1995 and it still looks good today. The story is simple and the characters are marvellous. Whoever thought of the idea that Buzz Lightyear could be a toy who believes he really is a Space Ranger deserved an Oscar. Its a brilliantly conceived idea, which has a funny and at times touching script.

Its also worth mentioning the that the songs are by Randy Newman, a vastly underrated musician and songwriter, whose Uncles wrote the music for some the great Hollywood movies of the 40's and 50's.

Was totally stunned by the quality of the picture running at 1080p! Only the second bluey I've thought better than upscaled DVD. Good to see the disk space used for the main feature and a few little high quality extras - not the usual rubbish that you honestly never bother watching.

These days I refuse to watch most CGI movies, mainly because they can run them off a mill as many times a year as they want. For me, Toy Story 2 represents the pinnacle of Computer based films. Touching, funny, and even better looking than its predecessor, this is easily one of the greats from Pixar. I say this now because with such average attempts over the recent years such as Antz, Madagascar, and Cars, the 90's proved that its better to wait 3/4 years for a film that's quality, rather than a glut of lame attempts to cash in.

It sounds and looks even better than the video version of course (believe me, the colours are enhanced hundreds of times better than on the video) and should be bought with the original!

Some people consider "Bug's Life" as not being on the same level of quality as other Pixar productions, but I really can not agree with them. My daughter clearly wouldn't agree either. This is a very funny movie, with a lot of interesting innovations (we will never look at bugs in the same way, me and my family) and a kind of surprising kindness - even the bad guys are shown with some understanding (having chosen the life of parasite racketeers, they are now trapped by it - as much as their ant victims). The principal hero is possibly one of the most likeable characters I ever saw. A little warning - there is one scene at the end, of the final demise of the leader of grasshoppers, that can impress the littlest children (under 6) - otherwise this movie is just perfect. The ... DVD : Toy Story 10th Anniversary Edition / Toy Story 2 Special Edition - Ltd Edition Double Pack [1995]
When "Toy Story" came out in the cinemas in 1995, it was seen as a revolutionary breakthrough in animation. This being the first computer generated animated film. So basically this film inspired the computer generated animated film hits "Shrek", "A Bug's Life", "Antz" and others including "The Incredibles" and "Cars".

"Toy Story" has a really fun and moving plot line. Woody (Tom Hanks), is in charge of the toys in Andy's room. He's also Andy's favourite toy. That is until Andy's birthday gets brought forward a week early and his mother gives him a surprise birthday present. That turns out to be Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen). Woody and Buzz have their disagreements but they get to respect one another before too long and they find themselves on a mission to save other ... Read More:

I absolutely love toy story 1 as much as toy story 2. this movie after a while has grown on me a lot and i watch this a lot now because at first i didnt like it. this is as great as the second one and my favorite character in both movies is rex the dinosaur. the best part of the movie is in the end where the family is moving and the toys are in the moving truck and woody and buzz are on the chase. the opening theme song you've got a friend in me by randy newman is one of my favorite tracks. this movie is as great as toy story 2, monsters inc, and ice age. get all four of these great movies.
