Will it be in high definition? Unless it's a error on Amazon's part, to me one disc does not seem adequate for a complete season; shortened as it was due to the writer's strike. If true it sounds that this will really be a standard definition release with all the episodes put on one compact blu-ray disc. After all the, UK releases of the dvd boxsets were inferior to the those in the US (in regards to extras). The american blu-ray release on the Amazon US will apparantly be three discs - which sounds about right. Proceed with caution.

Although entertaining this mini series seems to be based on more fiction than fact.

The worrying aspect is that nowadays many people get their whole history from this type of media

The second series of this superb series is difficult to review. In some ways it is better than the first series, however there are some episodes that are pretty awful.

The writing is a lot more daring in this series, and it is darker than the first season. The episodes that are good are really, really good and the episodes that are bad are just guff.

'Orpheus 3.3' is one of the best episodes of the entire show. It's very dark and this is where Johnny Depp really gets to showcase his talent. Superbly acted and written, this remains the best episode of series 2.

'Champagne High' sees the wonderful return of the McQuaid brothers and here they are at their best. It's always great to see episodes where ... Read More:

This has been slated by some reviewers and each is entitled to their opinion. Mine is that this is a worthwhile addition to the X Files, no better than the best and no worse than the worst.

The series itself can't have every episode mind blowing even though the series is a true classic.

If you are an X files fan, then you need this if only because you are an X files fan.

Highly historically inaccurate, the portratal of the pale, sickly, yet highly politically-astute Octavian as a bronzed muscled Latin jock is a bit hard to swallow. You really get the impression that this was a rushed-out spoiler to HBO's 'Rome'.

Still, it's enjoyable enough, as long as you don't obsess over the details. Some *are* correct -- like the staging of gladitorial combats in temporary, 'bleacher-like' enclosures (a lot cheaper to stage, too...;0).

And, in Colm Feore, we have a Caesar who looks remarkably like the portraits we have.

So, don't get your hopes, up -- just enjoy the set pieces, the scenery and the architecture.

Supernatural Season 1 was excellent. Season 2 was good, but dumbed down for the teenage rarther than adult audience. As a result alot of U.S viewers were lost on airing and the show was nearly cancelled. But here in Season 3 it is excellent again. But a warning about the NTSC box set. I ordered mine(NEW) through Amazon.co.uk, from a well known established U.S Florida based seller. It arrived in a horrific condition. It had obviously left the Warner Bros factory like this.! The 6 fold out dvd cases were smashed to bits. Not just the centers but the whole thing. The cardboard cover ripped and bent. And last of all, the dvd discs offered a selection of about 10 different language subtitles. But would only play with a subtitle on, not without any. There is faults ... Read More:

After the moaning and groaning of some fans before season 8, saying things like "ahhh its all over, mulders gone and the show will go bad", how wrong they were. Season 8 was (in my opinion) one of the finest seasons in the shows history, creating some wonderful new characters and brilliant episodes like (alone, per manum) and this 2 part finale entitled "existance". This is a brilliant finale with more twists and turns and some really exciting moments. My favourite scenes were between doggett and mulder as these characters are so different from one another but seem to work off eachother perfectly. The ever beautiful and brilliant Gillian Anderson turns in another fine performance, as does David Duchovny. Annabeth Gish really makes here mark in ... Read More:

I caught this series channel-hopping late one evening on TV and found it riveting. This is an amazingly good value boxset featuring all of the first Seasons story arc over six discs. The series is tongue-in-cheek at times, with references to Ghostbusters and Buffy and visual effects similar to The Ring in one episode, but it is done as an homage rather than a jibe. Given that there are existing rival series such as Torchwood or Buffy, why buy Supernatural you might think? For a start, there is amazing visual effects for all the paranormal demons and monsters and use of dramatic tension and lighting that put other rivals to shame. A wide variety of arcane lore and paranormal activity ranges from ghosts, demons, vampires, disgruntled spirits, poltergeists etc broaden ... Read More:
