Well, I've no bones with the packaging, so no loss of stars for that. This deserves all five.

I am not a devotee of anime by any means, most of it that I've seen is purile and annoying. However, there are some real gems out there and this is one them and while not suitable for very young children, it will have a very broad appeal. This is not a cheesy romance, not a sci-fi fest, not a violent supernatural bloodfest, not a swords and sorcery fantasy epic, nor is there any macho brutality, nor any barely clad females. This is what we used to call fantasy before Dungeons & Dragons came along!

This is a beautifully realised world, the societies and their costumes remind me of the Autrian-Hungarian empire, the floating ... Read More:

I've seen missions 1 and 2 of this series so far, and so far have found it a little bit cliched in that its trying to be a regular high school adolescent comedy with some covert military mecha action on the side. Its quite funny but nothing you haven't seen before if you've seen shows like Tenchi Muyo or Evangelion. The animation quality is quite good with cleanly designed characters and the mecha fight scenes are very cool. Not the best anime you'll find but worth a look if your a devoted fan.

5.Magic Knight Rayearth: Midnight (REGION 1) (NTSC) starring: Dorothy Elias-Fahn, Julie Maddalena, Wendee Lee, Bridget Hoffman, Steve Staley
directed by: Hajime Kamegaki, Hitoyuki Matsui, Keitarou Motonaga, Kôichi Chigira

Magic Knight Rayearth tells the tale of three junior high school girls. During a schooltrip to Tokyo Tower 3 schoolgirls hear a voice asking them to save a world called Cephiro. The voice belongs to Princess Emeraude, the Pillar whose will maintains the peace of this magical world where belief is power. But the peace in Cephiro is now threatened as Princess Emeraude is imprisoned and monsters begin to invade the land. With her last bit of strength, the princess summons forth the three girls destined to become the Magic Knights in the hopes of saving her world.

This original storie by CLAMP has been wonderfully animated. This storie is full of suspence, laughter, romance and tears. I recommend this DVD for all those who love the manga, ... Read More:

DVD : Tokyo Babylon [1992]
Note** This DVD is just 2 volumes out of the whole series.** Basically, Tokyo Babylon is about the growing up of a young medium called Subaru Sumeragi and how he use his powers to help solve mysteries in the city. The Sumeragi is the greatest medium in Japan. They have been serving as spiritualists for the government since the tenth century. The young Subaru is a very tender-hearted person. (He give his opponents too many chances to retaliate till his own life is in grave danger. Well you could say that he's a bit retarded but that's Subaru!!). The story is very exciting and you can really get hook onto it. Although the ending is a bit sad (the whole series not just this DVD), it's a great series to look out for!! (unless you are not a Clamp fan........)!!!!
