Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch) is obsessed with racing. Even as a boy (Nicholas Elia in these flashbacks), he couldn't concentrate on school but spent the day dreaming about cars. Of course, he comes by it naturally. Pops (John Goodman) designs race cars and older brother Rex (Scott Porter) is an up and coming champion. Things hit a bump when Rex and Pops fight and Rex leaves home only to die amidst allegations of wrong doing. But racing is in the Racer family blood (no surprise with that name), and Speed seemed destined to take the crown. Hi Ros, The American 6 disc version has the following soundtracks: English-Portuguese-Spanish-Italian-French. Subtitles: English-French-Spanish-Dutch(lucky me)-Italian-Portuguese. The 3-disc UK version has English sound & subtitling only. Thought I'd let you know, as I know that many Croatians are good at Italian! If not, don't fret, I'm sure there'll be a multi language Euro version next year...

The Matrix Trilogy must be one of the most significant films of our time, and is likely to go down as an all time sci-fi classic along with the likes of Blade Runner. It is obviously laden with symbology fished from a variety of sources, but I wonder if the Watchowski brothers realised just exactly how powerful a metaphor for our reality they were creating. The central premise that our lives are not 'real' but are steeped in illusion in order that our life force may be fed upon whilst we are enfenced unwittingly like cattle - this is a relevant and powerful message on many levels. It can easily be seen that this is true on a superficial level, with the rampant rise of ultra-aggressive capitalist consumerism, whereby everyone is 'sold a dream' ... Read More:

I had always enjoyed watching this movie for all the reasons stated in other reviews, but last night I sat through an hour and fifty odd minutes of the director's cut of "Dark City" - released in 1998 and totally ignored by the majority of critics and film goers. In fact, The Director's Cut copy I had was given to me by a friend and, as far as I know, is not available in this country. The plot of this film is about a populace trapped in a perpetually dark city, which is closed down and re-tuned by the controllers. Memories are altered, people put into other slots in the society, and the entire landscape altered as part of the experiment. I have the US import and it is a good film looks great but only Dolby Digital @ 640kbs come on WB what are you playing at! Unless you really want this film I suggest boycotting this disc WB can not be allowed to produce Blu Rays without high resolution audio!!!!

a much better flick after the rubbish reloaded this is much more entertaining.the first hour is forgettable but after the hour mark thier is some decent action set pices that are actually quite exciting.

Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon are Violet and Corkey, not necessarily dangerous women - just don't want to be messed around. When Corkey moves in next to Violet, she gets rather excited about her, and falls in love with Corkey - she really wants a way to get away from Caesar; a money-launder who works for the Mafia boss Gino. Things work out nicely for the pair when Caesar gets some money off a crazy guy messing them around. All they have to do is steal it, and make it look like it wasn't them who did it! This is an excellent film from the Wachowski brothers (Matrix trilogy) - it's got a lot of class and excellent qualities oh and lovely angles and use of music to bring up the momentum of what they're doing. This film divides people. There are those who think it is a sequel that attempts to broaden the ideas of the first movie, to explore the powerful ideas of freewill vs predetermination. Possibly it is even an explanation of religion; how can man have freewill if there is an omnipotent creator? There are others who think that this is a pompous, overblown, self important, humourless pile of rubbish. I fall into the latter category. I LOVE the first film. It's fantastic, and whizzes by in a blur. A great central idea, great effects and it keeps moving along at a thousand miles an hour. But then the Wachowskis tried to get all intellectual on us. For your money this is a great buy if you are looking for all the matrix films put together into one box set, and if you haven't seen the films yet, where have you been these are great films, and a definitely must see.
