But all the better for it. Ironic considering the subject matter, but these paradoxes have a habit of working. Such is the case here. Le Mans is a classic. I'm not sure if I could say it has a story as such, but a multitude of small stories based on individual relationshps. Excellent performances are given by the entire cast, despite the relatively sparse dialogue. And that is a real compliment -to be believeable with little dialouge is far harder than with a volumnous script.

One thing that Le Mans does is provide quite an interesting, and realistic snap-shot of GT racing in the early 1970s. It is superbly shot, sensibly directed, with some spectacular footage (and crashes). Very good. The DVD doesn't have many extras. That doesn't ... Read More:

DVD : Louis L'Amour: Hondo and the Apaches/The Man Called Noon [1973] (NTSC)
"A Man Called Noon" is a very good story of a man suffering from amnesia.
I enjoy any story by Louis Lamour, but was disappointed with the quality of the picture as it had a lot of double vision in the beginning, and the disc must have been faulty as the picture came to an abrupt halt about half way through. After fast forwarding I managed to watch the rest of the film.
"Hondo And The Apaches",also a good story, was spoilt by,what appeared to be "cutting" parts of the film,as,in some cases sequences ended suddenly.
Perhaps I received a bad disc. Much prefer "Hondo" with John Wayne.

DVD : Whatever Happened To Aunt Alice? [1969]

This has to be one of the greatest movies of all time! Certainly one of my favourites, having watched it more than forty times to date, and still find it enjoyable!

Award-winning performances here from both Ruth Gordon and Geraldine Page, as they take the lead in this 60s classic! There is something very disturbing about seeing two women fighting - especially when one is much older than the other. Ruth Gordon was 73 years old here to be playing such a demanding part physically, and was outlived by Page by only two years! Geraldine Page is great as the evil killer, and compare this role to the very 'inoffensive' one she played just five years earlier in the 1964 classic 'Dear Heart' opposite Glenn Ford - the comparison is amazing! ...
