A true classic a film that I keep coming back to. Almost an underground film.Don't think of the politics it's only a film about people and their lives.

what a nice film. Surprisingly poignant and humourous, I do think Colin Firth is a pretty great actor and I have to say through clenched teeth that I feel the same way about irritating Minnie Driver!! There was such a nice gentle feel to this film that at the end you wish there was more to come. A great feel good film for your collection.

DVD : Purely Belter [2000]
It's always hard summing up English films. I mean, how seriously can you take them these days? Their are few that stand out as being unique, unless you count the likes of 'The Full Monty', which few films had tried before.

Purely Belter, like most other British films, set's itself in the good down to earth reality of English life. It's always refreshing to watch a film that you can, in many ways, relate to in your own life, and this is something that only an English audience can absorb and take in. The plot is thin but simple in this film; a year in the life of two Newcastle lads who plan to raise money for a pair of season tickets at St James' Park, home of Newcastle FC.

It'd be wise to ponder how on earth you could ... Read More:

Not being a Dudley Moore fan, I did not expect this to be SO great until I watched it!

I just love this type of film full of cross purposes and crossed wires, and this has so many, it forms an incredibly tickly spider's web! This film is SO hilarious, and anyone that does not find it funny has no sense of humour at all... I simply could not stop laughing!

There's a great musical score throughout this, with lots of familiar faces, and the way Dudley Moore runs - coupled with his 'squeaks' of distress are enough to send you straight to the bathroom to change your underwear!

Two of the most unlikely characters (Patricia and 'Chuck') end up being the most attractive and nice, and one is really delighted for them at their ... Read More:

Channel Four developed Brassed Off and The Full Monty at the same time. A man called David Aukin, I think had to decide which to make. He could only choose one, so he chose Brassed Off.

Although The Full Monty is an excellent film he made the right choice as Brassed Off is more complex with a greater insight into the problems facing "old" industries in the 1990's in Yorkshire.

Well done Mr Aukin and everyone who worked on this brilliant film.
