While any release of Neighbours on DVD should probably be duly applauded, frankly I have my misgivings about this meagre collection. Imagine if the works of Beethoven were known to us solely via a condensed album of his most popular moments (such as 'Fur Elise', the finale of the ninth symphony and the 'Grosse Fugue')! Imagine if the great Bard of Stafford-upon-Avon were represented within the literary archives by a single volume of familiar speeches- robbed of any context within their respective plays! How could a reader even begin to unlock the innermost layer of spiritual profundity that is implicit within the "To be or not to be" monologue, without having first appreciated its role within the overall framework of 'King Lear'? I have watched this film time and time again and I never fail to find it as funny as I did the first time I watched it. If you are Irish you can totally get the humour in this film. I found it hilarious and would strongly recommend it.

Yes - I was not too keen on watching this film; I am glad I did.
Comedy? Yes. But - I found it thought provoking and surprisingly articulate.
It asks many questions which have never really found an answer.
You can look at this film two ways. As a bit of fun and a good old BC frolic or as a work that calls on you to question challenging issues.
Connolly is on fine form and for all his comedic delivery, he treats this with a great deal of respect.
Is God culpable and/or accountable? Prickly and contentious questions!
Enjoy this fine film as a good comedy or regard as a lesson in morality.
Preferably do both!!! I loved this and will enjoy further viewings.
It's a rare film.

Errol Wallace (Anthony Hopkins) is an efficiency expert, managing the high profile downsizing of a major auto parts factory. But when he is hired to evaluate a small moccasin factory, which seems from another era, Wallace has to reconsider the rapid modernization he advocates, as he is confronted by the human faces such plans hurt. This Australian comedy features early roles for future stars Toni Collette and Russell Crowe.

Many well-known Australian actors appear in this film. It is a gentle and sympathetic look at the effects of economic change. The film also has comic moments where adolescent boys try to ask out a good-looking girl without much success. The movie leaves you smiling !!
