Be warned this film is hardly anything like the Spiderwick Chronicles books. My son and I have read all the Spiderwick Chronicles and we found this screen adaptation very disappointing. Where's the dwarves, elves, dragons , the palace of trash and the incident at the school where Jared first meets Mulgarath ? It seems to me that they tried to make the film as cheap as possible using mostly cgi, hence no dwarves and elves and tried to save money by using ,mainly one set (the house and the estate it's on). We also found the relationships of the characters had been changed. Why? There was nothing wrong with the supportive relationship between Jared, Simon and Mallory that they have in the books which you only see later on in the film.

What can I say? I had doubts on this film but the chemistry between the two of them works superbly, the acting is 10/10 and its such a beautiful story. An ultimate love story classic

This film was the best thing I had ever saw!!! I bought the DVD without ever actually seeing it and now I can't get enough of it! And even though its a Chick Flick, I know boys who like it!
Cady was home-schooled in Africa until she was 16 when she was suddenly upped and moved to an American high-school. Now she has to cope with the worst girls in the school, cliques, a boy she can't have and 'the rules of femminism'.
An amazing film of Cady's ups and down through-out a year at high-school, and how she changed it forever!

PS. The soundtrack is just as FAB as the film and after watching the film I had to get the music as well!

This is a family movie, it is basicly a fairytale. If that put you off avoid the movie you probably won't enjoy it. The performances are all solid particularly that of Freddie Highmore, at least I think it was him I didn't check before writing this review. The effects are all solid if sometimes unspectacular.
The set up is simple, family move to a new home and find out there is some dark mystery yadda yadda yadda. Much like many horror movies in fact but there isn't much here to scare kids too much, just enough to make it effective. The film stands alone very well so there is no need for a sequel but also there could very well be a follow on story.
As a blu ray release it looks good, the short comings on effects are more visible but thankfully they ... Read More:

I normally don't go for Disney family movies like this, but I'm a sucker for a good switching places gimmick. Basically, the plot revolves around Jamie Lee Curtis (the single mom) and Lindsay Lohan (the stereotypically rebellious teenaged daughter) switching bodies for a day after eating some magical fortune cookies. No joke, that's the cause of it. I expected to leave a certain amount of my brain at the door when watching this, so I didn't let this affect my outlook on the rest of the movie. The film's biggest downfall is that the mom and daughter, after switching bodies, don't really encounter any major problems that the average family can relate to. I mean, the mother comes from an upper-middleclass background and makes $70 an hour as a Psychiatrist. So the biggest ... Read More:

There are one or two good jokes in this film but there isn't much on offer apart from the chance to look at some beautiful models and Freddie Prinze Junior.A film that is good relaxation for the middle of the week after a day at work - it's easy to follow the story and is shot in some nice locations.
