I managed to miss this in the cinema and waited a long time for it to turn up on DVD.
Its a great DVD, the sound is good quality, the video shots are superb the atmosphere is electric.
Its really nice the way Jagger comes across a bit tongue in cheek and the band don't seem to take it all too seriously.
The Stones aren't the best band ever but they have a long list of rock songs which deliver and have delivered constistently since 1960. Its all good fun.
Charlie Watts does a great job holding the rest of the band together, literally. And Jagger is still mesmeric to watch.
I saw them once in Croydon in the '60's with Brian Jones, only for the sound to be obliterated totally by screaming girls.
So it was nice ... Read More:

1* isn't for the film (which is 5* and then some) but for this DVD.

ITS A DUAL SIDER DVD - yep, flip over halfway through the movie, you know when you're nice and comfy?, snuggled up on the sofa with the wife? enjoying one of cinema's defining films?

YOU HAVE TO GET UP AND TURN THE BLOODY DVD OVER TO WATCH THE SECOND HALF OF THE FILM!!!!!

I mean, please accept my apologies, but I thought we were in the 21st century? I havent had to turn anything over since listening to my 'Best of the Clash' LP back in the early 90's pre CD days!

Why this DVD is still available I don't know.

Buy the special edition instead and watch one of cinema's greatest achievements UN-INTERRUPTED.

All you have to do is look at the reviews to see that this is a film that divides opinion. I have to disagree with the criticism this has received. For my part, I thought it was brilliant. I found it a captivating film with loads of quality twists and turns which had you wondering where this is going to end up. I don't think any of the acting was bad - liked jack especially and de Caprio put in a good performance. I think the average person will enjoy the film. The avid film buff will pick holes in it.

I watched this movie in 3 instalments because it's nearly 3 hours long.
It was okay but the storyline and style of acting and actors were much like I've seen in countless gangster type films like this one.It was a little predictable and I think the fact that Martin Scorsese got the man who was writing the story as a book to delay finishing the book and help him write a screenplay lowered the quality.Screenplays usually work best when a finished and established book is adapted for the screen.

This really is what your BLU-RAY is ment to SHOW and what your AMPLIFIER is ment to SOUND like.

Crystal sound quality picks up every pinch of air left in these rockers lungs and let me tell you there is plenty of that.

The picture is pure quality showing everything so perfectly even down to the dry roasted pores in the creases of these leather faced rock gods!

The old tv footage and interviews is fantastic to watch and breaks up the concert giving you a little resting time between songs.

This film gives plenty of satisfaction!

Honestly, I cannot figure out this movie. There is undoubtedly the will to tell about some aspects of N.Y. history, but this is no historical movie. It is neither an action movie (despite the abundant blood and violence), nor a romance.
Characters are played a bit too cartoon-type, the script is not really stricking.
With all respect for Martin Scorsece and the effort placed to make this movie(reason for which I rate it 2 stars and not 1 star), if one has to wash the car, one better spend his time that way.

On the back of my DVD of The Last Waltz, which is almost certainly the same as this edition, it's described as "one of the most important cultural events of the last two decades!" In the first place, it was made three decades ago. In the second place, that's an absurd description of what was nothing more than a glossy and overblown documentary of a moderately good live performance.

The Band's drummer Levon Helm, in his bawdy, gritty and very readable autobiography 'This Wheel's On Fire', describes the circumstances of the original concert; guitarist Robbie Robertson had got tired of touring and wanted to go out with a bang. Helm was incredulous that Robertson wanted to take the band off the road, but feeling that he had no choice he consented to ... Read More:

There's never been a better time to get re-aquainted with Michael's music. This is great! 10 videos that are timeless! The sound and picture quality (except the picture on the way you make me feel) is incredible. The sound is 5.1 dolby sorround, it's crystal clear and you can hear a pin drop. Whether you watch it on a sorround sound system or a normal TV it's superb quality.

THE VIDEOS

1 Billie Jean
2 The way you make me feel Uncut rare version. The picture quality is grainy - like an old VHS. Not sure why this is as the rest of the videos are great quality.
3 Black or white - uncut version including panther scene. This includes the racist writing on cars and buildings that Michael smashes up. In the TV version the writing was removed ... Read More:

A truly great film deserving of the maximum 5 stars.

Controversy surrounded this film upon it's release and it's easy to see why upon watching. They just don't make films like this today.

I can't think of a bad thing to say about any part of the film. Keep an eye out for Scorsese's 2 cameo appearances during the film.

If you want to see what New York was like in the 1970's grime and all, buy this film.
