I didn't think this would be anywhere near as enjoyable as it is. I really liked it, and found it to be surprisingly good.

Where to start in reviewing this truly fabulous film? A clever plot, a script full of laughs (with the odd poignant moment thrown in), and a top notch cast, this movie has it all. Robin Williams is a revelation as the gay nightclub owner and Nathan Lane is at his outrageously camp best as his partner - and frighteningly convincing in drag too! Gene Hackman delivers a terrific performance as the ultra Conservative senator a wonderful double act with his wife played by the superb Dianne Wiest. Look out for a young Calista Flockhart as their daughter, in her pre Ali MacBeal days. Hank Azaria is hilarious as the over the top manservant - and later, disastrous butler. The embarrassment factor is high and you'll be watching through your hands as the story ... Read More:

A pretentious and extremely boring series wich insults the viewer's intelligence. A complete bluff.

From the sweeping opening scene, with that classic 'Let the River Run' playing across it, to the closing camera pan-out, with Griffiths in her office, fading into a wall of similar offices, a great film.

There is a similar vein to 'Educating Rita', with the underdog, stuck where everyone else thinks she's happy, breaking out and making something of it. But this is a US film, with a lot of hairspray (oh, the 80s!), immature corporate bosses, the superbitch, and none of them have time for the secretary with ideas and a brain.

The killer scene is where Weaver's character is confronted and suddenly cannot talk her way out. The big scene though is where it dawns on Griffiths that she is the boss, not the secretary - a recurring theme ... Read More:

Closer is a great movie - sophisticated, clever, intelligent, witty and brilliantly acted. I live Clive Owen in this - he's pompous, arrogant and ultimately brilliant. Natalie Portman does a great job too, and the scene in the strip club is worth the watch alone for any red blooded male. Jude Law also deserves credit for his portrayal of his character.

Each character has things in their closet which most people can relate to in one way or another. If you are looking for an ideal relationship rom-com this might not be your scene, but for a dark, truthful look at love -Closer is certainly one of the best.

It's a difficult film to describe, so I won't really bother trying - A film about the inter-woven relationships of four people who randomly ... Read More:

Watch it to see some reasonable performances from the stars, but they can't save it from itself and the direction is appalling. Historical interest only.

Harrison Ford plays a high powered lawyer, ruthless and power hungry in his career and home life.

His family, wife and daughter, are distractions and very much second place to his career.

One night as he buys cigarettes he is shot in the head by an armed robber and although he survives, he receives damage to his brain which leaves him with the mind of a young boy. In this touching film, his family bring teach him to live as normal a life as possible.

Having finally watched this classic film, I was suprised just how good it was. Not only did it capture the sexual Zeitgeist of the 60's it has proven remarkably (and ominously) prescient in depicting what 'gender equality' might mean regarding sexual relations.

Anne Bancroft is wickedly delicious in the role(reversal) of the scheming, older sexual predator. What young man could say no to her? Especially a man as unsure and sexually inept as the Dustin Hoffman character. And when he does say no, she simply falsely accuses him of rape. With the dice seemingly now loaded against him and his gender, will our male hero somehow restore the natural order of things and win the love of Mrs Robinson's pretty young daughter? A classic snapshot of the hopes and fears ... Read More:

Although it's never going to be the greastest political film ever made it's a great insight into Bill Clinton's run for the Whitehouse and the psyche of the man. I should say it's not explicity linked to Clinton at any stage but the similarities are too great to be anyone else.

With fine acting all round (particularly Travolta and Thompson) it is really quite a believable exploration of the man that helps understand the character of his 8 years as President. I found Travolta's portrayal, constantly switching between personas depending on the audience, engrossing - the Southern Governer singing "You Are My Sunshine" to the Champion of the working man rounding up donations from industrialists.

Brilliant stuff! Definitely worth watching, ... Read More:
