This film is APPALLING. I have to admit i am writing a review but i could not stomach watching the film right to the very end (i watched at least 3\4 of it), i gave it a chance but in the end i had to turn it off. It made me want to vomit. I second the oppinion by some commentators on here that if you are interested in watching a film on this topic watch THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY, well cast, amazingly directed, beautifully shot, thoughtfull, researched, provoking, intelligent and touching - all the things this film was NOT!!! There really isn't alot more to comment on the horribly Hollywoodised cheesy badly acted Michael Collins except its embarrasingly embarrasingly bad... just don't bother.

As diehard fans of the novel will recognise, so much has been left out of the film it is barely comprehensible. The Freniere family? the musician? I believe also that Lestat was not portrayed as the truly malevolent creature he is meant to be. Then again, whether this was due to the casting and/or acting is irrelevant. No one could possibly expose the true nature of Lestat for the sake of a film. If they could then it would probably be banned!

Minus the small inccorections i.e. Louis loosing the will to live over the death of his 'young family' instead of his brother and Claudia being depicted as a child of nearly 10 years old when she was actually around 4 or 5 in the book, i suppose this film needs to be appreciated on its own merits. ... I love foster's films(Contact, panic room, nim's island). So I could not work out how I missed this one. It's another really great film with her and the cast.worth a night in to see,But not one of her classics.for that reason i recomend renting it or buying it cheap. As it is a must see but after that it will only collect dust, unlike other films there is nothing you won't understand or miss the first time you watch it.

Breakfast On Pluto is a heart-warming, heart-string-tugging, intelligent and funny film.
Despite it being a bit slow in parts (the reason for which I didn't give it 5*s) it follows the life and happenings of Patrick 'Kitten' Brady, a loveable character portrayed by the even more loveable Cillian Murphy.
Who would ever have thought he could play a 'woman' so well!?!
4/5 stars; 9/10!

What a terrifying and refreshing look at fairy tales which on all accounts seem so innocent. This film goes underneath the niceness and chips away to the horrid, scary dark truth about such stories as Little Red Riding Hood and Bluebeard, telling the stories in a trully haunting and surreal mannor. I first saw this film on my first year of university as we were studying fairytales and I decided to dig it out to watch it again - I was still equally scared. I love the message underlined in this film, it is not about actual creatures, more of male and female sexuality. I adore this masterpeice adapted from a fantastic writer, the late Angela Carter.

"Libera me, Domine, de vitae aeterna" - "Free me, Lord, from eternal life": If a movie begins with a choir and boy soprano singing these words, in a requiem's style and overlaying the camera's sweeping move over nightly San Francisco bay, zooming in on a Victorian building's top-floor window after having followed the life on the street below like a hunter follows its prey - if a movie begins like this, you know you're not looking at your average flick, whatever its subject. (And if the first thing you catch is the Latin phrase's grammatical mistake, this is probably not your kind of movie to begin with).

Much-discussed even before its release, due not least to Anne Rice's temporary withdrawal of support and her no less sensational subsequent 180-degree turn, ... Read More:

A great film from Neil Jordan which was really his homage to Taxi Driver. It is similar in plot and even has a reference to it, to sort of legitimise this obvious similarity. He does though, do enough to make it its own film entirely, this is thanks partly to the slightly humorous screenplay, the characterisation of the protagonist/hero, but largely to Hoskins, who plays him. He got nominated for an Oscar for this, but everyone who's seen the film knows he should have won the thing. Kathy Tyson is also fantastic in her role as the upmarket pro. The violent climax is straight out of Taxi Driver, with no attempt to hide this, but with one slight difference (in case you haven't seen it yet). It is a really good British movie, up there with the best of them, and even has Michael ... Read More:

Peter O'Toole is hysterical in this film, and quite easily, is the glue that holds it together (contrary to popular opinion). While this film suffers its share of problems, (such as a few holes in the plot, a little shoddy acting here and there) it makes me laugh as few other movies have. O'Toole's drunken wisdom and fights with his drunken, ghost-talking mother are great. Steve Guttenberg does fine, Daryl Hannah is okay. The Irish country side is lovelyand haunting (incidentally, the movie was filmed in a castle in Limerick,Ireland, where Frank McCourt, author of Angela's Ashes grew up); the set ofthe castle itself is the stuff that fairy tales are made of. The effort that the staff makes to haunt the cynical guests is great, in particular the Lady Godiva/Broggan Banshee fiasco. ... Read More:
