Because I am not worth the dust on the feet of them that hang! How may I live without my name? I have given you my soul; leave me my name!... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .... ... ... ... ... .... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .... ... ... ... ... .... ... After being caught dancing naked in the woods, Abigail Williams hatches a plan with the other girls in the village. Abigail claims that she has been fighting to save her own soul, as she is surrounded by people who worship the devil. Accusations fuelled by provincial politics, greed, spite, paranoia, and fear become ... Read More:

I love this movie, I've done ballet since i was small so i can really appreciate this movie. If you dance you will definatly like this however, if you don't really like dance this may be a little boring, as the story is based around a ballet company. This always makes me wanna dance if i'm finding it hard to get into the dancing spirt i just watch this and i just wanna dance hahaha!!! but over all its a good movie though some could find it a little dull!

"Playwright Alan Bennett, who adapted his own stage work, takes as his inspiration a time when George III -- the George who lost the North American colonies -- appears to have also lost his mind. What happens, Bennett asks, when a man can no longer project the power required of a ruler? And in its absence, what fills the psychological space where power used to reside." Lisa Schwarzbaum

Nigel Hawthorne spares no facial grimace nor utterance as he portrays King George III who loses his mind but finally finds his grieving heart. A must see performance and one that had me cheering him on. Helen Mirren as the Queen or better known as Mrs King to her George III, plays an amazing Queen. Mother of 15 children, though we only meet five or six of them, ... Read More:

We always loved Jennifer Aniston when she was Rachael in 'Friends' but now that the highly successful American comedy series has finished Jennifer has gone into making films and this, i think is one of her best so far.

She plays Nina Borowski a female social worker who is pretty unhappy in her life with her boyfriend Vince. Things start to change however when she invites George, a good looking school teacher to stay with her after his partner leaves him. They get on like a house on fire and soon Nina reveals that she does in fact have feelings for him. The only problem with this is that George is gay!. When nina becomes pregnant she leaves Vince, and asks George to be the baby's father, to which he agrees. With Vince still on the scene and George with a new boyfriend, ... Read More:

Despite going to the opera for the first time when I was 7, it's taken me more than 20 years to really appreciate the artform and I've recently begun collecting DVDs. This production was the first Così I ever heard or saw and - having seen a few more since then - will likely be the last. If I lost my mind and decided to watch it with the sound muted, I'd still be thoroughly entertained - the comic and dramatic talents of the players here is unsurpassable! I'm particularly fond of Anke Vondung's ditzy Dorabella, but everyone is amazing. I must say that the setting and costumes (no turbans, thank God!) adds to the already potent mixture. The clear and crisp sound of Fischer's well-conducted period instruments is pure joy. The four principal singers all do marvellous jobs and over ... Read More:

I was thrilled when Nigel Hawthorne was nominated for the Best Actor oscar for his performance as George III in this film, not only because this was a stunning performance, but because of his history on the stage (which I was privileged to attend often in London) and with BBC productions. Sir Nigel (as he is now fashioned) is perhaps best known by television audiences as Sir Humphrey Appleby, the scheming civil service mandarin from the Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister series. I have admired him for years (and most recently got to see his great performance of Lear in London).

This film also starred such British acting heavy-weights as Helen Mirren as the queen (think of the Prime Suspect series on the BBC/PBS Mystery, among others), Ian Holm as the physician (most recently ... Read More:

It was with great excitement that I discovered the release of this DVD a few weeks back. Priam is my favourite Tippett Opera, though I have never had the chance to see it, and know it only through the outstanding Chandos recording under David Atherton Tippett - King Priam.

It's been digitised from VHS with the usual haze that results, but until something more modern comes along this will do very well. Hence my title for the review. Also the musical recording is not perfect. The dynamics are quite extreme so you find yourself craning to hear some of the quieter passages. My guess is that the orchestra was not mic'd up particularly well. I would guess its been recorded with reduced orchestral forces as well, as I have to admit, a very initial disappointment as the blazing ... Read More:
