I loved this show as a kid and was amazed when I saw this had been released.I bought this box set with some reservations however. So often the reality of seeing these old programmes again do not match up to your fond memories and expectations. I'm happy to report that these teen super-sleuths are still plenty of fun to watch and have bucket loads of charm into the bargain. There is no bad language or violence in the stories, which makes it ideal for younger viewers who enjoy an adventure or ghost hunt, and I don't think this will put off the older fans out there either. They bring back so many memories of saturday teatime viewing. The Nancy Drew episodes are far superior, both in pace, execution and plot ('A haunting we will go' is downright ... Read More:

Until I started looking at other films starring Phoebe Cates I'd never heard of this and I'm glad I found it.

Okat so it's no Porky's, but it sure beats Fast Times At Ridgemont High (especially in the boobs department). It's a shame that this isn't a better know film, as far as unknown gems are concerned it's up there with SCREW BALLS.

Deservedly one of the most acclaimed sleepers of the Sixties, "Pretty Poison" is a neat, deft and beautifully performed chiller wherein Tuesday Weld and Tony Perkins stunningly portray a couple of clean-cut kids out on a murder spree. This 89-minute film is so tightly, tautly constructed that the complexities of plot and, even more important, of character, will emerge plain. For while contemporary in theme and technique, this 1968 movie is old-fashioned in the best sense in that it tells us of the monsters who walk among us in the sunlight disguised as pretty people. With a notably adroit screenplay by Lorenzo Semple, Jr., and a promising debut from young director Noel Black, "Pretty Poison" also boasts a vivid performance by Beverly Garland ... Read More:

40ish college professor Adam Evans (Anthony Hopkins) is having a fling with his 20-year old student, Lindsey (Bo Derek). When his wife (Shirley MacLaine) finds out, she doesn't get mad, she gets even, by starting an affair with a carpenter half her age. When Adam discovers this, he (bizarrely) suggests the two May-December couples spend a ski vacation together, which seems to work out just dandy until Adam's daughter and her lover show up unexpectedly.

With this cast, I expected so much better, but the ridiculous script spoils everything. It tries way too hard to be hip and with-it and ever-so-nonchalant about the extra-marital affairs, with non-stop banter that consists entirely of sarcastic one-liners. There are no pauses, just ... Read More:

DVD : Conspiracy Of Love [1987]
A well made drama with sympathetic characters and an involving storyline, showing how misunderstandings can lead to conflict bitterness and division within family life.

Drew Barrymore steals the show as the troubled young girl caught between a mum seperated from her partner and a doting grandfather who tells tales to win the young girl over. Its good to watch ona lazy afternoon but the drama is slight compared to events in Barrymores own personal life at the time and its hard to imagine the young actress here as a wild child dabbling in drugs and living the high life. But then shes a damn good actress. The DVD is in TV ratio with scene selections and stereo being the only extras.

One for girls mums grandads and Barrymore ... Read More:
