I have seen countless number of vampire movies from my Dad's collection. He
is a great 'Chris Lee' fan. I too love Mr.Lee's films, but, once I saw Gerard Butler, I was bowled over. This is a vampire film with a very nice twist. Chris.Plummer acts as the aged Van Helsing, who has kept the lethal
count's body in his high-security vault. The fun begins from that point. I
will not spoil the movie for new viewers by narrating the whole story in advance. All ye modern-day vampire lovers, take it from me: This is the Best. Better than the 'Blade' flicks and even better than 'John Carpenter's vampires'.

The three films decline in quality as is the way with sequels. However all three are watchable entertainment.

The first is truly original. With a small group of humans finding themselves caught up in the war between groups of angels which is apparently going on in heaven. Christopher Walken, Eric Close and Viggo Mortensen as angels all have great screen presence. Adding to the fast paced thriller atomsphere and the novel back story. Involving a girl being fought over by rival groups of angels and an ex-priest.

Number two manages to maintain some of the same atmosphere but doesn't have the originality of the first. Think 'B' movie straight to video quality rather than the quirky originality of number 1.

I loved this film because of the story and effects. Only mistake was that in Dracula 2000 the first film in this trilogy, Mary Van Helsing took the burnt corpse and locked it up in a vault. Now in this one the corpse turns up at the morgue? Apart from that very good and acting superb.

Still determined to rid the world of vampires, Father Uffizi, (Jason Scott Lee) and his antics anger the Church and advise him to stop. Quitting the Church and traveling with friend Luke, (Jason London) to Romania during the middle of a Civil War. As they meet with reporter Julia Hughes, (Alexandra Wescourt) and reveal that they are tracking Dracula, (Rutger Hauer) to his homeland, the three team up to stop him before he can unleash a new era of evil.

The Good News: This wasn't all that bad of a sequel. Picking up right where the second one left off, this one increased one of the main problems in that one and went for full-on action. The pace in here is really relentless and hardly ever lets up, as it's action scene after action scene with very little ... Read More:

I have all parts of this trilogy and my interest lay in Walkens performance (as Gabriel) and how his character develops as the storyline unfolded.
In Prophecy The Ascent the cinematography allowed for slicker execution of stunts, dramatics and scene changes. It was comical to see Walken playing a down-and-out who just happened to be there when he was needed. His sarcasm was all the more convincing and contrasted nicely with his 'pearls of wisdom'as he wrestled with the afterthoughts of the Angel he once was. The story line in Part 1 & 2 transists very smoothly into The Ascent.
An entertaining movie even if the final battle was a little disapointing in all its drama. I give this movie full marks despite this, because of how it plays out Walkens complex ... Read More:
