Another movie that copies Tarantino's style and is a lot better. I was so surprised when I got this film, expecting more or less and average film at best. Lucky No. Slevin is hilarious and full of unexpected plot twists and great ideas. An excellent cast, including Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley make this film one of the best in recent years.

This film is brilliant - i loved every second and have watched it at least once a month for the last year.....wow that sounds sad but it's just so good! Most love stories and romantic films leave me bored and irritated but this one is different - it's complex and ultimately hopeful. Plus of course there is the beauty of Josh......and the sound track is great too.

DVD : The Acid House [1999]
Acid House is not for the faint hearted, it is graphic in so many different ways. I found the idea of three short stories intriguing although I presumed there would be some linkages between the three films, there is none whatsoever, they're just three short films compiled into one film purely for a commercialized advantage, that the only way the screenplays could be seen as a proper film was by being one.
I think the Scottish Brit flicks are of an acquired taste, if you aren't so fond of Scottish accents the film will great on you immensely.
Although Acid House was referred to as a Trainspotting sequel, I don't see how, the same charcters aren't even used maybe people thought because it's about drugs & is set in Scotland that makes ... Read More:

Paul Bettany shines as the former monk who joins a troupe of actors whilst on the run as an adulterer and murderer.
The film is blased on a Morality Play and succeeds in that, but the English scenery is not convincing and is reminiscent of that in "The Name of the Rose" - so obviously Spanish.
The players find themselves in a village where a woman is awaiting execution for murder. PB does the Brother Cadfaels and in a precious short time performs an autopsy on the victim and proves the maid innocent. What our modern police could learn from these Medieval monks!
All in all, apart from Mr Bettany, the acting is muted and restrained, though Mr Dafoe looks extraordinarily handsome having more hair that usual, perhaps.
I am not familiar ... Read More:

DVD : Gangster No.1 [2000]
I have recently been reading a lot of the reviews on Amazon about this film and while some of them I can agree with there is a lot that I cannot. Quite simply this is a very disturbing Gangster film about people that you would certainly not like to meet up a dark alley - this is the point of the film really. One commentator pointed out that in this film there is not one likeable character - yes! Precisely, these people are not likeable in the least, and why should they be to the average person? Here is the truth for you, Gangsters and their Camp-followers are scum! plain and simple, the kind of people that make the lives of the average person a misery, they are not heroes in any shape or form and I think that this film puts this across admirably. I enjoyed the juxtaposition ... Read More:

When I sat down to watch this I knew nothing about it. And I was not very pleased by the beginning...the main character Matthew played by Josh Hartnett appears to be very pathetic and obsessive. I almost turned it off when he kept doing things that made me cringe at how pathetic he looked. But after the first flashback you start to get a feel for the movie.

Yes, this director seemed to love to tell a disjointed story using a series of flashbacks. And a technique of showing the characters through a reflective view, as if watching them through a mirror at times. You can actually really appreciate this film on the second viewing.

You realize that the main character fell madly in love with Lisa played by Diane Kruger. But one day she just disappears and two ... Read More:
