the second season of the shield starts 4/5 weks after the first season ended. vic mackey's personal life is falling apart as his wife has disappeared with the kids!!! this season sees major changes for all the characters and some new faces on both sides of the fight. throughout the season the strike team are trying to get their hands on their "retirement" fund, which is mostly dodgy dealings which they are known best for. great writing, great acting and the real life feel is still there!!!

I had not got into Greys Anatomy on TV, I work abroad and travel a lot and had seen occasional episodes on satellite in various countries, and some episodes over and over. I could never figure out the chronology and relationships. SO I bought this box-set and decided to watch the entire set over a period of weeks.
I am half-way through series 2, and loving it. How can USA make things like Greys Anatomy, Becker, House and still turn out Bold and the Beautiful?
Anyway, the casting and dynamics betwen the characters are great, and Chandra Wilson - well, I just cant imagine anyone else in the role of the Nazi. It just would not be the same without her.
I am so into it now, AND it has some of the hottest women on screen - dressed as doctors!!!!!!! ... Read More:

The opening skit "Apartment Victim" with Arsenio Hall is pure slapstick--not my favorite comedy type but for some reason I found it hilarious. I just cracked up on all the mishaps and the great timing by Arsenio and the cameras. The way the video cassette shoots back out of the player and hits him and knocks him over was just so funny; and the way the TV blows up when he hits the remote was a crack up. Which reminds me, Confucius says "Woman who flies upside down has hairy..." [I censored these last two words for the benefit of sensitive Amazon readers. Discerning readers will be able to figure out the last two words by re-reading the previous sentence.]

(Sorry about that.)

Anyway, I also liked David Alan Grier as Don (No Soul) Simmons ... Read More:

DVD : The Cure [1995] (REGION 1) (NTSC) [1996]
This touching drama stars Brad Renfro (Jurassic Park) and Aeryk Egan (X-files) in what has to be the greatest AIDS drama there has ever been, and most probably, ever will be. Being an inspiring movie director myself, I took the time to watch this, from what reviews I had read. Watching this movie for the very first time, it truly took my breath away (quite literally). I was stunned at the incredibly realistic performances by the great ensemble cast. The crew, especially the director, writer, and producers should be incredibly proud of what they conjured up. Second viewing, what I can I say, I was in tears. Even the tagline: "Two boys found a way to make one summer, last a lifetime..." brings a tear to my eye. I do not enjoy telling movie fans what happens in films that ... Read More:

Usually i dont like hospital dramas so when Grey's Anatomy came out i wasnt very interested. However, one day i desided to watch an episode and was instantly hooked! i realised that its NOT just another hospital drama!

Plus, if nothing else, the eye candy is definetely something! From McDreamy Derek to Alex the intern, the guys on this show are seriously HOT!
My favourite program, i was so happy when i found out you can get the first and second series on dvd (i missed most of the first series!) It really is brilliant!

DVD : The Shield: Season 3 (REGION 1) (NTSC)
The fallout from season two's Armenian Money Train robbery is the principal concern of this year's batch of episodes. Corrupt copper Vic Mackey and his Strike Team are going about their business as usual, but the Armenian mafia - not too happy about losing so much money - are on a murderous rampage as they try to recover their lost loot. This means tension and paranoia all around in year three, with cracks beginning to show in the previously tight-knit team. Added to this is some unwanted interference from Strike Team member Shane's girlfriend, yet more conflict with Captain Aceveda, a rivalry with Farmington's newly acquired Decoy Squad, and an attempt to take control by detective Wymms.

As with years one and two, this is pretty much the Vic Mackey show, so ... Read More:

DVD : The Shield: Season 2 [2003] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
When the second season of The Shield finally came to five I thought that it could never be as shocking, exciting, thought provoking and intriguing as the groundbreaking first season. But it was. The second season is a rollercoaster of emotions in which you feel for each of the characters as they fight against crime (the respectable and clean cut Dutch and Claudette), corruption (the supposedly corruption free and politically minded Captain of the station David Aceveda) and try to survive in the troubled neighbourhood of a Los Angeles area.

One of the best things about The Shield is its gritty and graphic realism. Many cop shows claim to be this, but The Shield is the only one I have seen that can really live up to the statement. The creator Shawn Ryan manages to ... Read More:
