Peter Kay is easily my favourite comedian of now - his style can apply to everybody, whether he asks why mum's clean the house at 3am before going on a holiday, to Uncle No*-heads grand spanking white shoes!
I bought the DVD after watching both the live performances on TV, as I decided I just had to get them! (and why the DVD's separately work out more, I'll never know) But not surprisingly, back when I saw it on TV a few years ago, alot of the people I knew from Uni had mixed opinions. A few thought it was almost 'too clean', as they preferred the dribble of Lee Evans, who can do nothing but make fun of fat kids and be sarcastic. Other's just thought it was based too much around the whole family theme. What they don't realise, is that ... Read More:

Excellent, just keeps you laughing with simple but extremely effective humour. Kay and McGuinness are a great double-act and some cracking episodes and cameos (Noddy Holder). Hopefully the boys will return to the Phoenix in the not-so-distant future!

Do yourself a favour and go and get 'Live At The Top Of The Tower'. Then forget about buying any of his other stuff, because essentially, it's the same material. Kay has the least amount of range I've ever known in a stand up comedian. 'Tower' was a genuinely funny release, albeit a little lazy comedically. This is just more of the same from somebody obviously trying to milk the popularity he got off the one good thing he's done.

Nostalgic comedy is pretty cheap at the best of times, but when it's done well it can work. It worked in his last DVD, but this is repetitive and insulting to the fans who deserve something fresh, not repackaged repeats.

It is the same show as his Bolton DVD, simply because it was the same tour, he's not going to change every show! It is a fantastic show and well worth seeing!

series two of phoenix nights is right on the money, glowing television of the highest order and even better than series one ,high praise indeed.I found this series more consistent and more fast paced and the laughs were just easier to find,as i said about season one i was always entertained but didnt always scream the house down,in season two i was more or less always at that.
Season two carries on from the carnage of season one as the phoenix club is burned down and brian along with his assortment of friends and employees decide to build it back but it isnt easy.
The six episodes once again end too soon and the quality doesnt drop, this series is more cult in its status than all round classic but make no mistake in its right to better things, great.

How Peter Kay could ever follow up the brilliantly original, laugh-a-minute first series of Phoenix Nights is a bit of a mystery; but follow it up he has, and Series 2 is as sidesplittingly funny, as close to the edge of bad taste as you can possibly get, and as compulsive as its predecessor. There's a general feeling of a slightly bigger budget, and the shaky docu-soap-style camerawork of the original has given way to a more conventional style of cinematography and storytelling; but the jokes are as razor-sharp as ever, and in this series we begin to discover the depth of character in the wonderful supporting cast as well.

The story starts with the Phoenix Club in ashes, courtesy of arch-villain Den Perry, and Peter Kay's wheelchair-bound impresario Brian ... Read More:

DVD : The Best of Friends: Season 2 - The Top 5 Episodes [1995] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
Once again the five episodes (one has two parts) collected on "The Best of Friends Season 2" are what was selected after the choices episodes were already selected for the "The Best of Friends: Top 10 Episodes" ("The One Where Ross Finds Out," "The One with the Prom Video") and "The Best of Friends: 10 Fan Favorites" ("The One Where Ross and Rachel...You Know"). Fortunately, that is only three episodes out of the mix, so there are better pickings for this collection than we found on the same DVD for Season 1. The problem is there are really only two solid episodes here:

"The One With Ross's New Girlfriend" is the season premier for Season 2, which picks up at the airport where Rachel discovers her big plan to reveal her love for Ross will be rather difficult now that he is ... Read More:
