After Soprano's came to an end last year over here in blighty last year I was wondering would another series come along to give it a run for it's money.

I'm not sure what people think of David Chase's Mafia Epic but I can imagine cries of overrated being called out, I personally found utterly engrossing TV and simply sublime, I was somewhat sad to see it end but grateful Chase chose it to go out on high and yes I was perfectly happy with the opened ended abrupt ending to the final episode. Chase never was going to do conventional.

While I admit Showtime's Dexter started to fill that void, the 1st season was a great intro to the world of Miami's most interesting serial killer the 2nd season took the concept and ran with ... Read More:

This film was such a disappointment for me, I really did expect a Great British gangster film that would show London's notorious criminals and how ruthless they were in their prime. Instead I found myself watching two clueless twins who are as intimidating as a pair of goldfish roaming London doing rather little. Their mother of the story is wrongly portrayed as an eccentric feminist and as for the music, well that belongs in a B movie horror. If you are considering buying this film please don't, it's really not worth it I assure you you will be as disappointed as me and be even more annoyed at the potentinal this film had.

After the ploughing through the rest,MoH Series 2 Vol 2 is surprisingly decent and more consistent.
The entries are as follows:

We All Scream For Ice Cream(Dir Tom Holland)
Stephen King rip off about a man who returns to his hometown bringing with him the ice cream selling clown of his youth who intends to exact revenge on a group of childhood friends for a prank that misfired.Okay but terribly unoriginal.

Sounds Alike (Dir Brad Anderson)
More like it as Anderson, director of Session 9 and the excellent The Machinist, sets out a creepy tale about a grieving father Chris Bauer whose hearing intensifies to all most unbearable level and sends the poor chap over the edge.Genuinely atmospheric with a haunting final shot. ... Read More:

il give this box set five stars purely for the first two installments of the species quadrilogy but the third and fourth despite carrying on from where the first two left off seem to be mediocre in comparison to those that made natasha henstridge a star in the making.

I first became intrigued by the Kray twins when I viewed the movie here in the United States. Immediately, I wanted to know more about them as I was more interested in the their story than I was with the acting in the film. Apparently, from the information I was able to gleen from news items and internet websites, Ron and Reg Kray were idolized by people who had no power, no voice in society. I think I remember Ron saying he was good to good people, and a bastard to bad people. The acting in the film was great, Billie Whitelaw being the standout in my opinion. Still, it was a very interesting story for me.

I can´t understand at all how people can compare this classic to a cheap TV-production. In my opinion, "Romeo is bleeding" can play on one level with "Pulp Fiction", "Jackie Brown", "Scarface" etc. In this film, we get a top leading actor (Oldman), a great counterpart (a real "femme fatale"), as well as a enthusiastic group of supporting actors (featuring Roy Scheider and other well known faces)and a great director who keeps the movie on a breathtaking pace. The conflict between the corrupt police-man and the female killer is amazingly well illustrated by Oldman and Olin and the end of the story is cruel and hard. That´s the way I like it. Honestly, the story maybe isn´t very original, but is that really important ?

DVD : Strange Report - The Complete Series [1968]
Interesting little series released in 1968 about a semi-retired London criminologist and writer who solves unusual cases Scotland Yard finds simply too baffling or bizarre to resolve. Think of it as sort of a precursor to the popular "Quincy, M.E." from the 80's and the now popular,"CSI:Miami" among others.

Noted Shakespearean actor Anthony Quayle is Adam Strange, supported by his two assistants, an American student/museum curator and an interior-decorator/artist, played by Kaz Garas and Anneke Wills, respectively. Supporting castmembers and guest stars are from ITC's stable of fine TV actors including Darren Nesbitt and David Houston among others.

The episodes themselves tended to gravitate towards typical crime themes of murder and revenge ... Read More:

Come on guys - don't knock this film so much. Yes, its dated, poor sound quality, a bit overlong but also totally eccentric and in many ways a classic. This film has philosophy, social satire, great humour, musical numbers, burlesque strip-tease, romantic interest and a distinctly dark side.

There's some great acting, especially by Peter O'Toole who beautifully plays the eccentric 14th Earl of Gurney who, upon his father's bizarrely fetishistic death, inherits the title. The only problem is he's barking mad, having spent the last 8 years in volunatary confinement in a loony bin. He releases himself from the institution to reclaim his inheritance.

Unfortunately he is convinced he is Jesus Christ and due to his erratic behaviour, his family plot to marry ... Read More:
