I have just finished watching this set. I had seen some early episodes originally but watched all again. It is almost a bit "Lost on Mars" as the early series now do seem dated or rather perfectly portraying that time - the early 1990s. I found myself watching the clothes of DCI Tennison and of course the ageing of her in her character with all the trials and tribulations faced by a woman in the police force and in her personal life. She is a demanding , admirable yet imperfect character and it is heart wrenching to see the last episode when retirement beckons. Absolutely fantastic performance by Helen Mirren and of course the rest who make their characters just so believable!

If I remember anything about writing composition at primary school it's this, never use the "it was all just a dream" scenario. OK, you realise when you see Kelly fantasising about strangling her mother with her rosary that the opening sequence is just a violent fantasy or dream and you realise that there isn't enough running time left for the ending to tie up with the beginning but even so it was disappointing.

Irvine Welsh's writing reminds me of the old nursery rhyme. When he's good (Trainspotting, Glue, Porno) he's very very good but when he's bad (Ecstasy, Filth) he's awful.

So, what to make of "Wedding Belles"? There's enough classic Welsh to make it darkly funny and very watchable but..........(there's always a ... Read More:

This series is a whole lot better than the previous series. After watching the first series i didnt know wheather to bother watching the second series as i thought it would all be the same. I WAS WRONG! its very different.. theres alot more atmosphere, more faces and not so gloomey as the first series. Yet again Kims dad comes back with even more great acting, Everybody looks more healthy and outgoing.. its great and i am glad that i have watched it. best out of both series.
one thing though is why is it rated 18+ it doesntseem to be that XXX i would personally give it a 15. DO buy this is not to miss.

Although ostensibly a spin-off from Granada's successful 1976/77 crime thriller "The XYY Man" (which has also mysteriously lain locked away in the vaults until recently), "Strangers" was a belated attempt by northern broadcaster Granada to muscle in on the cop show genre...

Contemporary series such as "The Sweeney", "The New Avengers" and "The Professionals" found favour with viewers through their pacey direction and action. Yet this first season of "Strangers" is a surprisingly laid-back affair. It clearly lacked the budget, production values and directorial panache of these other shows. So what has it got going for it?...

Essentially these early stories are character-driven. The interaction - in turns pithy and light-hearted ... Read More:

The final 8 episodes of Hercules are not the best you'll find from the show. There are some interesting concepts covered in episodes like "Be Deviled", "Love Amazon Style" and "City Of The Dead". There are a couple of good episodes, "Darkness Visible" and "Full Circle", and everything is geared towards being rounded off...but then really a weak episode like "Hercules, Tramps & Thieves" appears and doesn't do a character like Autolycus justice.

The extras are a little thin on the ground too. But commentary from Michael Hurst and Kevin Sorbo on a couple of the episodes is always welcome.

The show's "It's a Wrap" party footage and the Final Episode "Behind The Scenes" footage aren't that great. The content is wonderful...the film ... Read More:
