Ok so you know the story but this movie does not date. I know kids of 6/7 who watch this film and still love it. Timeless classic quality. A must for anybody!!!!

I was hoping something special with this Blu-ray release, I was so disappointed with the delivery of this edition of the Goonies, I would even say that the DVD version is superior in term of content, a prime example is the menu navigation system, the DVD was beautifully animated and crafted as if you were inside a cave; the Blu-ray edition is just a simple screen with a background picture and selectable text. All I can say about the picture quality is exactly the same as the previous reviews, good in some parts bad in others. My next grudge with this version of the Goonies is purely personal and probably does not concern much of the customers that will buy this Blu-ray. I was horrified to see Scrooged on amazon with only a 3 star rating, so I clicked on the item to check out what the reviewers had said. Unfortunately the overall rating had been pulled down dramatically by the rather grumpy review by what appears to be a genuine real life scrooge. This film is great. Bill Murry plays the part of a modern day scrooge beautifully with his deadpan humour and classic role of progressive personality transformation. The film can't take much credit for the overall storyline, but compared to the many other rather boring and overdone rewrites of the classic, this one stands at the top for its clever adaption and extremely comical approach. As at least one of the reviews in favour of this film came from the UK I thought I was in with a chance of being amused. I had thought that a film with James Garner, Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson in the lead roles would be very good but this is really a "ho hum" film. Some of the costumes and scenic shots are great but there is some very poor cutting, particularly in the bank robbery sequence, where it is obvious part of the plot has been cut. The comedy is not very funny and the script is pretty low level. I am very glad I watched this on my own and didn't persuade my husband to watch it with me. It would have been a shame to waste both our time. Don't bother spending your money on this one. I will be donating my copy to freecycle.

Firstly I must say that although I found the Superman films were always great to watch when I was a kid, I have personally gotten a bit bored with the franchise now. However I still cherish the first few films for what they were. I bought this boxset just over a year ago because I thought that a) it would not only give me the first two films but the third and fourth ones as well and b) I mistook the Christopher Reeve Collection for this one so then I thought it would give me the deleted scenes of Supes 4 that had been locked away in the vaults of Warner Bros for that long time. I saw this film many, many years ago and remember really liking it. I spontaneously bought the dvd recently but found watching it again a lot less appealling. Even though I enjoyed the story and some scenes were acted really well, the execution let it down at times, i.e. I really hated the soldiers' sparkling new and bright uniforms, they looked really unrealistic and out of place. I also found that Michelle Pfeiffer was a disappointing cast for Isabeau who was supposed to be the most beautiful woman of her time who enchanted a lot of men. However, Pfeiffer with short hair looked just boyish to me and not very beautiful at all (very unlike any later roles). Received the box set today and haven't actually seen the DVD movies yet, however I were slightly worried if all the DVD's from the box-set would all be in widescreen as I wanted them to be, and I found it annoying that no aspect ratio information were given on the Amazon.co.uk site. So just in case others like I should wish for more information then I can infom you that it on the box-set says that all main features has english subtitles for the hearing impaired and more specifically for each DVD movie it says : Omen I (2 disc, 30th Anniversary) is in approximately aspect ratio 2.35:1 and sound : English 5.1 and English 2.0 stereo Omen II is in approximately aspect ratio 2.35:1 and sound : English 2.0 surround Omen III is in approximately aspect ... I had only ever seen the TV version of the original Superman movie until I bought the HD DVD. So, as you can imagine, on TV it was in hideous pan and scan and with several scenes missing. In reality, I have never seen the 'full' movie until now. And I have to admit, it's far, far superior to Bryan Singer's self-indulgent mess of Superman Returns. It actually takes quite a while to get going, but there's so much going on that the running time certainly doesn't seem two and a half hours. Richard Donner shot it back to back with Superman II, so there's an extended opening act that establishes the plot of the sequel at the same time. This film is BRILLIANT to watch. This movie may have not worked well if it was different actor but perfectly well with Bill Murray. Very very funny movie and it was worth it to watch but better nearer Christmas time. Also I have to say this film help me to bring out in festive mood. Excellent movie.

I didn't really know because it seemed to have a bit of everything with Gibson playing his paranoid taxi-driver part in this film at times similar to the COMEDIC way he acted in Lethal Weapon.Julia Roberts is normally worth watching but even she seemed overwhelmed by Gibson but I suppose she was just their for the ROMANCE. Patrick Stewart and his team conned the conners too easily and even though it's a film give the viewer some credibility to know that certain checks are run on people.Gibsons paranoia does have a basis we learn but by the time we do so the whole thing has become such a mix of different theories it's a job to remember where we started off.
