School of Rock never appealed to me...for a good reason: it sucks, like a vampire let loose a school hall full of female teachers. The only good and funny part was the guy in front me and my friend danced with two pencils, hitting his maths book repeatedly, in time to the poor music. Well, I say music, I should say urine. With ants in it.
To describe the story, a man needs money so he pretends to be a famous school teacher to be a substitute for when the real teacher was unavailable. The man turns out to be a rock star that no-body is a huge fan of (I wonder why (?)). For example, most of the audience said that he sucked.
He tried to teach the children how to play rock music (which reminds me, if you are a Christian then don't ever ... Read More:

Hollywood loves Dick, and that's a fact. Philip K. Dick, that is: whenever the powers that be require a sound sci-fi brain scratcher, they turn to the pages of special K. The man behind Total Recall, Minority Report and the more than slightly less impressive Paycheck, Phil is the go-to guy for short tales of paranoia, future dystopia and drug abuse, with A Scanner Darkly representing only his second full novel to be adapted into a movie (the first being "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?" which resulted in the mighty Blade Runner). At the helm is another Dick, Richard Linklater, one of the slipperiest directors working today, a man who simply refuses to be pigeonholed, but who is as yet unproven in the sci-fi genre.

Finally, Dick ... Read More:

To have both of these films on offer for under a fiver is a real bargain! Whilst I know there are those who find the premise of the movies lacking credibility, I found them to be charming and the performance of Julie Delpy in both films is an absolute treat! There was some disquiet at the ending of the second movie, but the optimists will believe that the couple were about to embark on a journey of discovery.

For two films that consist basically of intense dialogue between 2 characters, your attention is held throughout and this is a tremendous achievement. The films are nicely photographed with Vienna and Paris (in particular) making pleasant back drops. A great advert for small independent movies and I'd recommend this set to anyone to watch. ... To be honest I found the whole film rather pretentious - its message wasn't very engaging. If you're going to make a film about philosophy at least use that medium to its full potential (some kind of plot and characterisation would have been nice!), otherwise write a book.
The rotoscoping technique created some sort of an atmosphere, at least, although I didn't find it quite as dissociating or effectively done as in 'A Scanner Darkly' (see it - it's much better).

Many Americans enjoy this movie as the quintessential teen movie. Is it accurate? Not really. But it is fun. It's a movie that doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is. It's just a stoner movie that is beloved by many who lived through the American high school experience. As I'm not British, I don't know how well it crosses the cultural divide. Apparantly some American phraseology is annoying such as "freshman" but really, this movie is not about Brits and doesn't have to cater to those who can't be bothered to enjoy a movie from another country. In the States we say "freshman" and "sophomore" and this movie is portraying an American high school, not a British one.

I bought the box set of this and Before Sunset for my wife as a stocking filler this Xmas. I figured that as they'd made a sequel it must be quite special and i do quite like Julie Delpy. But really it is the most awful drivel. It's like being forced to listen to a really long tedious conversation between two teenagers where everyday experiences are treated like earth shattering epistemological discoveries. Vienna looks OK only suspiciously quiet.
God it makes me wince just thinking about it. I really hope that the sequel, if we ever get around to watching it, is considerably better than this.

I am not a fan of romantic movies and I ended up watching this by mistake.
This is a great human story of love so beatufully shot that I felt I was THERE with the Jess and Celine , the dialogue is very interesting.

One can admire Paris in the background and the best thing about the movie is the end.
I had not watched before sunrise before but it did not matter very much as the story os obvious.

This is the best sequel ( spare TESB ) I have ever watched and a simple ,understanded work of art.
10/10

The film wasn't as good as what i initially thought it would be.
Rent it, dont buy it - you'll regret it if you do.

A tale of 1990's twenty-somethings, quite simply - cool. A cult film, not known to everyone, but should be watched by -- anyone from the 90's generation X.
