For me, Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie were, are and always shall be, the quintessential Jeeves and Wooster! As English as Pimms and Cucumber sandwiches, this glorious P.G. Wodehouse creation lifts the veil on the altogether more carefree life in 1920's high society, ironically observed through the wit of one of our great writers. And who better to bring it to the screen than two of our greatest comic talents.

Sadly, P.G. Wodehouse has suffered of late from the tight mouthed disapproval of Political Correctness. I wish that some people could just get over their left wing angst about "toffs" though, and see this for what it is - a wry and witty gallop through an entirely different era. This is comic farce, and it pokes fun at absolutely ... Read More:

I didn't think Jeeves & Wooster could ever be succesfully transferred to screen until I saw this series. Absolutely brilliant! Lovely settings, costumes, music etc to back up the characters. Minor quibbles: frequent casting changes (e.g. three different Madeleine Bassets over the course of the series!), the third series is not quite as good as the first two and the fourth series is not as good as the third, oh, and of course the infuriating anti-piracy advert that you can't skip...my dvd player will only pause for about a minute before going back to the beginning, so every time I make a cup of tea, answer the phone etc...I have to watch that horrible thing all over again! I loved this series though, have watched it so much that I'm probably ... Read More:

This is absolutely awful. Stereotype after stereotype although not quite as bad as in the (American) books. Merry old England clichees, a pseudo-Morse (without the great John Thaw's charisma) and a pseudo-Lewis (without Whately's charme). Boring, slow moving, unconvincing. A bloody waste of time.

As great as the first series was, I consider series two to be the true highlight of the entire Robin of Sherwood saga. All the faces are back from the first series, even Guy of Gisburne who had a rather an unpleasant finish in the last episode of series one. Although the director of the previous series, Ian Sharp, didn't figure, the magical, mystical nature of the first instalment is still present here in abundance. What makes this series stand out is the truly fantastic level of storytelling, as the plot to each episode is top notch. 'The Prophecy' has the evil Prince John arriving in Nottingham with a mysterious prisoner who Robin must rescue. 'The Children of Israel' surrounds a family of jews who are persecuted by the sheriff, and Robin decides to help them. ... Read More:

"Fierce Creatures" was marketed as a somewhat adventurous endeavour in teaming up much of the old team from the highly acclaimed "A Fish called Wanda" to do another film that was completely different and had nothing the same, except much of the cast.

Does this have the same sparkle? The short answer is no, but it is still good viewing. It tells the story of a highly greedy and successful business magnate, Rod McCain (Kevin Kline) who has just taken over a zoo in England. However, business regulations require that the zoo return 20% of revenue or it will be shut down. Put in charge is Rollo Lee (John Cleese), who is then somewhat overthrown by new recruit Willa Weston (Jamie Lee Curtis) and McCain's 'idiot' son Vince (also Kline). Essentially the film deals ... Bergerac was one of those programmes I enjoyed watching when I was younger, so it was nice to relive my childhood through this box set. This series contains some excellent episodes including Ninety Per Cent Proof, Holiday Snaps and House Guests. One of the episodes Ice Maiden marks the first appearence of jewel thief Philippa Vale superbly played by Lisa Goddard. This series like the 1st and 2nd has a slightly dated feel about it especially some of the 80's clothes, but this adds to its charm. The series would go on to reach its peak with series 4 and 5. Once again the only let down is the lack of special features - hence the 4 star rating. Hopefully John Nettles will recond some more commentary tracks like on the first series dvd. All in all a great piece of classic tv nostalgia.

Not convinced by Jason Connery's acting which lacks a real depth of expression. That said, the idea of introducing Robert of Huntingdon
is a good one and is refreshingly different from the firebrand
yeoman in Michael Praed. The episodes in the first part of this series
are quite good ( two of them are written by Antony Horowitz), but some
of the Arthurian stuff is plain nonsense and looks it. The episode
entitled the "Sheriff of Nottingham" is particularly good and entertaining. For those of you who dislike the seemingly anti-Christian
,pro-pagan element that Carpenter has introduced, the "Cross of st Ciricus" confounds that completely. In this series, also, Much the Miller's son comes of age which is nice to see.

Agreed this film is best watched when your about 8, but if u watched it first back in the 80s then its a classic! overacting and awful special effects only add to the nostalgia. Also loved by my two nieces currently aged 6 and 9 who put it in the VCR everytime they come round.

I bought this collection for "Vampire Circus". It's a sad shame that it's not available in the U.S., which means I'll be paying an arm and a leg to have it transferred to Region 1. It's worth it, though! As a child, I remember being scared out of my mind by this movie. Nobody did horror like Hammer. And nobody ever will. End of story.
