Having watched the Gondry and Jonze DVD's back to back, I found that the latter fell a long way short of the mark.

The Gondry DVD is outstanding and had everything I was expecting, in particular his thoughts and the processes he goes into concerning his work. This I found particularly engaging as it gives you a real insight as to what makes him tick, and therefore a gives you a greater appreciation for his work.

This gave me great hope for the Jonze DVD, as it's rare to find interviews with Jonze talking about his work and his influences. What better place for him to give an exclusive in-depth interview, than on a DVD, on label HE co-founded.

Once again he fails to deliver, and would rather have other people ... Read More:

Although this DVD is lacking in extras (there aren't any), the sheer quality and diversity of Green Day videos more than makes up for it!

From the early 'Dookie'-era to the pre-'American Idiot' vids of 'Warning', this collection showcases a dozen image changes for the band - Billie Joe undergoing a transformation from nose-pierced bratty teenager delivering angst-ridden punk anthems to subdued, vulnerable balladeer in videos like 'Good Riddance' and 'Redundant'.

Highlights include 'Longview', a low budget video of the band with all their blemishes, shot in Billie Joe's front room, where he happily hacks away at his sofa, and the elegantly stylish 'Hitchin' A Ride', whilst the sports-homage 'Nice Guys Finish Last', the cartoonish ... Read More:

I keep finding myself putting this DVD back in over and over just to watch one of the funny and inspiring videos in this collection. Granted, several of them aren't worth the time wasted to watch to begin with (just to hear the music, which was the initial purpose of his videos IIRC), but several of them are just too good to watch once. Ones that come to mind are Ya Mama (for a GREAT laugh every time), Weapon of Choice, Demons, and Slash Dot Dash (need a wake up call?). Each are very well made and go with the music beautifully. I constantly come back to these videos more than ANY OTHER VIDEO I've ever seen.

Others, like Praise You, The Joker, Gangster Trippin', and borderline "That Old Pair of Jeans" took a great song and glued an awkward, goofy music ... Read More:

When i first saw it on Amazon i was a bit sceptic but decided to buy it any way, man its good. I don't have any other music Dvds but this one is so good, if you even like daft punk a little bit buy it it's well worth a few quid, i love. The only down point is i can't use the mulitiple camera angles on my Ps2 but even with out this feature it's still super and well worth it.

Sofia Coppola may have got all the kudos with The Virgin Suicides and Lost in Translation, but, from a 60s movie buff's point of view, the other Coppola kid, Roman, turned out an even more enjoyable feature, CQ. Shame that no-one saw it. Barely released in the US (and not released at all in most countries), it's an engaging little number that pits underground cinema against Eurotrash moviemaking at a time when people still thought even pulp cinema could be the stuff of revolution (1969-70 to be precise).

A riff on Sullivan's Travels and 8, it sees Jeremy Davies' editor of Franco-Italian co-pro 'Codename: Dragonfly' struggling to come up with a new ending while making his own personal film with borrowed equipment. Oh, and falling in love with the fictional ... Read More:

And so to the longawaited Play DVD. We've already had the album, the limited edition 2CD box set, a three year tour, eight singles, 422 advert tie-ins, and finally the warts n all DVD, with a remixes CD. Despite all this, can I just say, Please Moby, we love ya and that but can you please go away and make a new record? You've done enough. And even I'm sick of seeing ya face because its been everywhere the past two years. And I'm bored of Play now. It's a great, and was for a long time, under-rated album, but in everyone's CD player now.

So does the world need a Moby DVD? Well, sort of. It's very very good, but in all honesty, some of what is there is a bit unimaginative, isn't it?

The videos themselves, all 10 of them are excellent and thought provoking, ... Read More:

The director series is interesting. You're supposed to watch stuff on the back of a director...most of which you haven't even heard of. Sure the name Spike Jonze rings a bell but i really hadnt heard too much about these guys apart from the fact that they're directors.

So I had a look at all the directors in the series took the pluge and bought the box set. A good call if i say so myself. The Chris Cunningham one is by far the shortest (and the best in my opinion)and i would have felt ripped off if i had just bought it alone. The other 2 (Spike Jonze and Michael Gondry) are also really fun to watch.

Between them all there's a great blend of music videos, commercials and short film stuff. Some of the commenteries are good also. But also with the box ... Read More:
