Always liked this film - it was made when I was 6, although I didn't see it until my twenties! Excellent script, and acting at its most convincing. It also reminds us of a time not so long ago when life was more family oriented, and morals and respect were the norm rather than the exception. A genuine story, with plenty of twists and turns.
The score by McCartney is subtle, reflective and very melodic, all the more amazing considering his age at the time. The film has plenty of location shots in and around Bolton, which together with the period's vehicles (including BSA bikes, buses) and the town centre and shops evokes memories of yesteryear.
Thoroughly recommended on all levels; the DVD AV quality is first class to boot.

Good acting but uninteresting story. Not much happens and its very talky. Judging from the cover and the casting I expected a fun comedy but "There's a Girl in My Soup" feels more of an uninspired drama-comedy, with very few funny moments (I can only think of one, and I just finished watching it). The acting is good, as expected from Hawn and Sellers, but their talents are wasted. Not recommended.

This is one of the must see British sci-fi films of the post war era, with more suspense than sci-fi. The acting performances in the cameo roles include a superb "Goldie" by Olive Sloan, as a good-time girl who has slightly gone to seed (but still has a definite allure) and Joan Hickson as the appalling landlady "Mrs. Peckett" juggling a fag and whose grubby rooms you know just have to smell of cat. The views of a vanished London and it's inhabitants are priceless. Imagine a tube ticket for a penny halfpenny! The idea of the suitcase sized fission weapon still haunts us today although the enemies have changed, and all shot in black & white with wonderful contrast and atmosphere. So much for the film. The quality of the print as the other review implies ... Read More:

Classic British comedy from the Boulting Brothers starring the inimitable Ian Carmichael as a fledgling barrister stumbling through the English Court system and coming up against some very uncooperative and irascible members of the judiciary before he finally wins his first case.
Also along for the ride are Richard Attenborough as his more experienced room-mate and fellow barrister, the delightfully vague Miles Malleson as a senior barrister who is forever dashing from one court to another with hardly a minute to spare, and numerous other well-known faces.
Benjamin Frankel's jaunty music score keeps it all moving along nicely.
One problem I encountered is that the dvd I received made quite a loud humming noise in my dvd player ( SHARP ). Fortunately, it was fine ... Read More:

Well, it`s a shame how many poor films Peter Sellers played in. It is also a well known fact how many poor films Peter Sellers played in. (Especially in the years 1968-1974. After "The Party" - which is a great piece of comedy and until he returned to the familiar role as Clouseau in 1974 or 1975 with "The Return of the Pink Panther"). Still, because of his extremly high talent, charisma and unbelieveable comic powers as an actor there is still a large collection of film buffs (as maybe myself) how loves the idea of finding another lost comic gem that Sellers starred in. This is also something that the people that makes these DVDs are acutely aware of: "Put Peter Sellers on the cover!" Of course! Then some idiot like me won`t think twice:"It`s in colour, it`s a comedy, it has Peter ... Read More:
