If you love spagehtti westerns then you must run out immediately and buy this film.It has a great performance by Thomas Millian and an excellent music score.
Blue undergrounds dvd has good 16:9 widescreen transfer and some fun extras inclung a featurete with interviews with Thomas Millian and director Sergio Sollma, a rare 1960s documentary about italian westerns with interviews with Enzo G Castellari,Sergio Corbucci and Sergio Sollma and behind the scenes footage from movies like The Great Silence.Also included on the disc is an alternate opening sequence the trailer and a poster and stills galery plus easter egg trailers for Django, Django Kill! and A Man Called Blade which can be found on the special features menu and another easter ... REVOLVER was one of of the first Polizieschi or Police thrillers released in the early 70s that sparked of at least 600 + movies. This and films like STREET LAW and THE MARSEILLE CONNECTION were all inspired by the gritty Urban thrillers like DIRTY HARRY, DEATH WISH ans THE FRENCH CONNECTION as well as the political situation in Italy at the time.
The film stars as Oliver Reed as Vito Cipriani a tough, violent prison warden who's life is thrown into termoile when his wife Annie is abducted by the mafia. For her safe return the mafia wants an inmate/thief, Milo Ruiz (Fabio Testi) released. Convinced Ruiz knows some big people, Cipriani engerneers his escape but keeps him in his custody. This is one of Bronson's Masterpieces its as simple as tht it provided him with a role he would return to frequently, that of the cold blooded hit man. Just look at THE MECHANIC or THE EVIL THAT MEN DO. There is excellent sopport from Telly Savalas and Jill Ireland as the dumb blond with the heart of Medusa, manipulating all the male characters with obvious charms. And it features a great Morricone score and good extras!
