This film could have been so much better than it was. Not that it's a bad film at all - it's quite beautifully shot, all the roles are played with ease and admirable understatement, and it's played out to a hazy backing track that matches the adolescent yearnings of the characters perfectly. Most of the ingredients are there and the film is certainly easy on the eye and extremely watchable. Yet at the end, I was left with a dissatisfyingly unsubstantial impression as to what the film meant. Why did these teenage girls committ suicide and why did I care so little? A little more imaginative crafting of the script might have enabled this film to say something more tangible about the nature of adolescence, virginity or the reasons for teenage ... Read More:

I'm shocked! The reviews of this are really surprising, to say the least. The moment I started watching this movie I was drawn in and couldn't get out even after the movie was finished.

And usually, a movie with as simplistic a plot as this wouldn't interest me greatly, but this is an unusual movie in its presentation and in the character portrayal. The film itself is basically a study of a romantic relationship between two less-than-happy individuals, both of whom meet in a world vastly different from their own. We are forced to see the lonesome atmosphere in the characters as they sit alone in their respective hotel rooms and also in the desolate neon Tokyo scenery.

The film is truly an adaptation of Rick and Ilsa in Paris. The ... Read More:

Lost In Translation is my favourite movie of all time. its so original. its moving, funny, and although very slow moving in parts, worth sticking with to the brilliant, although mysterious, end. Bill Murray and Scarlett Johannson are superb in their roles as two people lost in the city of Tokyo, unsure of what to do and how to find their place. They are searching for that one thing that is missing in thier life..fun. You really care about the characters because they are so in depth, and the film really focuses on this and their relationship.

Eternal Sunshine is a clever, original and fantastic film, with great performances from the typically excellent Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey, proving he can be a serious actor when he wants to be. Although confusing ... Read More:
