For anyone who hasn't watched the royal family the concept of sitting watching a family who are sitting watching tv may seem very non-comical... however i guarantee you will love it! The casting is genius - led by Jim in his crusty jeans. The writing is amazing - only this show can make you laugh one minute then be near to tears the next. (watch the queen of sheeba edition - you'll see what i mean) Buy this - you wont be disappointed. Enjoy

I loved the first two series of Little Britain - and the Little Britain Abroad special was good too, but I hate to say it really is getting rather tedious now - this is just the same old characters churning out the same old catchphrases. Even the couple of new characters they've included seem to grate on you after a couple of sketches. If they want to keep this going any longer they really need to give the whole thing a fresh look. Catchphrases are ok for so long, but you if you try to build a career on it, sooner or later you're going to come unstuck.

OK, I may be on my own on this one, but I just don't get it. How Tom Baker was ever coerced into appearing in this annoying dross is beyond me. Don't get me wrong, I love comedy - I'm a big fan of Eddie Izzard and Bill Bailey amongst others. But there is something wrong with this sketch show. After all the hype surrounding Little Btitain, my girlfriend bought me a copy of this series one DVD, but it just isn't to my taste. Favourable comparisons with great British sketch shows such as Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Two Ronnies and even more recent output such as Big Train and Mitchell & Webb's recent ventures are hugely unjust - this is a show that relies mainly on tacky innuendo and cheap catchphrases. The Royle Family has got all the elements needed for a good comedy. There's a busy do-it-all (Barbara), a lazy, hypocritical slouch (Jim), a mother that would avoid her baby at all costs (Denise), a dim-witted, loving father (Dave), a work-aholic (Anthony) and an annoying, yet lovable, grandmother (Norma). The ability to relate to nearly every character is what makes this sitcom so popular. The absence of the audience laughter track is a welcome change, as it makes you feel as if you're there eavesdropping on them. The way Jim laughs at his own jokes and Anthony always sighs before doing something makes you feel like their your family. Superb acting by all actors plus uncheap jokes, equals The Royle Family. This is the mabye so on series, the sick woman Maggie is my only favourite new character i like, get rid off Bubbles De Vera...SHE IS SERIOUSLY BAD! But the 2nd series was good...nothing more i can say!

Says our dignified narrator and guide, "Britain...Britain...Britain...land of tradition...fish and fries...the changing of the garden...trooping the colours. Have you ever wondered about the people of Britain? Nor have I..." And with that, Matt Lucas and David Walliams take us into a Britain far removed from Jane Austin. Lucas is short, fat and hairless, something like a pink, soft kewpie doll. Walliams is tall, hirsute (hair suit?) and, depending on the occasion, wolfish or just showing a lot of teeth. The film is OK, and probably undeserving of the ire in many of the reviews here, but it's not a patch on the series itself, which is one of the finest things ever to come out of the BBC. To me, the Christmas special will always be the "true" LoG movie.

If you think you're getting "Little Britain" think again. All you will get is a mean and paltry attempt to milk a popular, funny show by hijacking the brand. The clips included are all Lou and Andy and Vicky Pollard, but none are the best/funniest, or more than a few seconds long. Rubbash!
