...this is a fine set, you get Hang 'Em High in addition to the traditional 3 film set, usually refered to as the man with no name films, although he does have names, Joe, Manco and Blondie (nickname?) if I remember correctly. I'm only writing this review as I think the one star is unfair as loads of boxsets are repacked from other sets.

Having owned the original Dirty Harry DVD collection which was released back in 2002,I was looking forward to this all new release and I was not dissapointed all of the original films have been given another re-master,not just the picture but also the sound has been given the dolby 5.1 remaster as well and if you have a surround sound system then eastwoods 44 magnum sounds just like the real thing!!. As well as the original extras there is a host of new extras and commentarys plus the addition of a small hardback book,production notes,Callaghans police ID badge! and also a poster and limited edition art cards complete the extras,sadly though no .44 Magnum included!!!. Despite the title, Hang 'Em High, starring Clint Eastwood, is not a particularly violent movie; in fact, it contains some moral scenarios that seek to capture the pioneering spirit (and the pioneering justice system) of the old Wild West. The basis of the plot is that Jed (Clint) is hanged by an enthusiastic lynch mob of vigilantes who mistake him for a murderer and cattle rustler. Miraculously, he survives and is cleared of all charges when brought before a proper court of law. The poacher then turns gamekeeper as Jed becomes a Marshall and sets out for vengeance. I first encountered RAWHIDE sometime during the 1980s, and like many I watched the repeats of the show that Channel 4 screened in the late 1990s. I was very impressed with the show and for a while watching it became a regular fixture of my weekends. Consequently, I'm enormously pleased that Paramount have begun to release the show onto a home video format. At times, there's an odd, abstract quality about the series, as if the drovers are wandering through purgatory; some of the shows feature plot-points that verge on those you might expect to see in a horror film. Clint Eastwood is back once again, as "Dirty" Harry Callaghan, an uncompromising cop with a Magnum .45. This is considered the best sequel of the series, as Harry has to battle a new force of crime, an underground vigilante group of cops, doing the dirty jobs the courts don't want to do, and ultimately executing them. Everyone from pimps, pushers, murders and robbers are under the bright light of the vigilante cops - and even though Harry doesn't like the system, he doesn't like this either. This is a very good reprint of Magnum Force, the dark scenes in the ship are much clearer, and actually give you new scope to the film, also I've noticed a lot more background details, something that can't be bad. "Beneath The Planet of the Apes" is an unusual and often strange sequel to the classic original. This film sees another time travelling astronaut from Earth called Brent crash land on the planet and suffer a similar ordeal to Charlton Heston's Taylor, namely getting captured by the apes and managing to escape from them into the Forbidden Zone. The apes in "Beneath" invade the Zone in an attempt to root out any surviving humans and to extend their control.
