With the 1st season setting the scene and introducing the characters the 2nd season does that rare thing of being even better, Though the story does still contains the continuing Barksdale story with Stringer Bell holding the reins as Avon alongside his nephew are incarcerated due the conclusions of the investigation in season 1. It is the new strand that drives the 2nd series even more. It introduces the tragic tale of the Sobotka's, a family of Batimore Dockers who's head Frank sometimes goes to not exactly legitimate methods to keep the money coming in but is a generous but compromised man. So when he rubs childhood adversary Deputy Commissioner Valchek up the wrong way with a incident that concerns amongst such things as Church stained glass ... Read More:

What is there to say except 'Oh My God'!! This series has to be one of the best yet. It brings an 'almost' shocking conclusion to the season 4 finale! The team comes closer together and we get more of an insight into Gibbs past life. The must see episode has to be 'Requiem'. This show is still as addictive as ever. As for the ending of the series, have a tissue at the ready.
If you enjoy any of the CSI type shows then this brings even more to the mix, if your already fan then you don't need me to tell you its a must have!

There is no better SciFi anywhere ever (other than Babylon 5). S:AAB is a totally engrossing story, beautiful written and well thought out and acted. The characters are solid and believable as well as worthy of one's support and sympathies. There is plenty to cheer about and cry about in this highly emotional and brilliantly dark series. It would appear it was wasted on the masses, as it only survived one series, but for those of us who understood and appreciated what it was all about, that was a series never to be forgotten and now, thanks to DVD, one to be enjoyed time and time again.

DVD : Highlander: Season 1 [1997] (REGION 1)NTSC (NTSC)
The first Highlander film is something of a favourite of mine but the sequels never lived up to the original. This TV series is another spin-off that retcons the events of the first movie and totally ignores the sequels. The series follows the adventures of Duncan MacLeod, an immortal from the same clan as Connor MacLeod just younger.

This first season of the series follows a rather episodic format with many of the episodes following a similar immortal-of-the-week style with little in the way of an overarching plot for the entire season. Having said this however, the majority of the episodes in the series display some good writing and are generally quite entertaining.

The main problem with the series though is that in many ways it ... Read More:

DVD : Miracles: The Complete Series [2004] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
'Miracles' is a little gem of a series. It only ran for 13 episodes before cancellation in the US, but it looks amazing, the quality of the episodes is very high, and the final episode ties up enough ends that, although you'll be left wanting more, it isn't exactly a cliffhanger, and it isn't going to keep you wondering unbearably what-happened-next forever. The pilot episode on its own is a haunting piece of filming worth the price of the box set.

The series treads similar ground to 'Sea of Souls' in the UK, focusing on the investigations into the paranormal of Paul Callan, disenchanted former miracles-investigator for the Church, parapsychology academic Alva Keel, and ex-cop Evelyn Santos. The three leads are great, compelling ... Read More:

This was first shown on the tv but sadly they havn't put the whole series on the dvd. But it is still really good. Tim Daly plays the fugitive and does it very well, just as good as David Jansen maybe even better! I hope one day the will put the whole series on dvd, as it is excellent! A VERY Exciting film!

DVD : NCIS: The Fourth Season (REGION 1) (NTSC)
Seasons 1,2 & 3 were very good & quite humourous, but this season seems to lack the humour of the previous seasons, this is mainly due to Gibbs, initially leaving at the end of season 3 & now the appearance of Tony's new girlfriend & The Chiefs persuit of Le Frog, which has made this season darker than the previous ones, but thankfully Ducky, Ziva, Abby & Magee, have not been altered in any way, which remains the basic strength of this excellent series, hopefully season 5 will return to the humour of the 3 previous seasons, but this is still better than it's competition of the CSI's, especially Miami & New York let me know if you agree with me.
