I was a latecomer to 'House' but better late than never.

Hugh Laurie plays the miserable yet brilliant Dr. House with some style. You almost forget he is a Brit.

I have watched many hospital dramas - ER, St Elsewhere, Casualty, etc, as there is something uniquely engaging about the medical environment. Those series have been mainly dramas while House is something else. It's a part drama, part sit-com and part geeky medical show.

The basic premise involves patients being admitted to Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital with very mixed symptoms that complicate the medical diagnoses. House uses his talented young medical team to treat the symptoms but the patients usually take a turn for the worse upon ... Read More:

Saw this in the theatre and wasn't all that thrilled - okay but not fantastic. On DVD it's a bit better (and much cheaper than taking four children to see it!). The animation is as good as others in it's class, the characters are well voiced and pretty cute and there were several "hidden" things to see if you were paying attention. The head of the homeowners association was a bit over the top and like another reviewer I found it stupid to put in a full grown hedge that wasn't there last fall not to mention a 40 acre subdivision. The "suburbs are evil" message was way overdone for my taste as well. Talk about indoctrinating kids from a young age. And to assume that a homeowner would find it odd to have a squirrel in the neighborhood was a tad unbelievable. ... Read More:

I loved this film as a kid, and am glad that it hasn't lost any of it's magic now that I've grown up a bit! I'd assume this film gets many comparison's with Pixar's 'A Bug's Life', well, don't tell them I told you so, but I actually think Antz has the edge over that film. The animation is faultless, the story line suitable for both a younger and older audience, theres characters you love, and others you love to hate, and a feel good message at the end of it all - don't be afraid to dream, and if we all stick together, we can achieve anything. Great film!

This is one of the best and smartest family movies I saw in those last years - and having a 7y old daughter I saw a lot of them, believe me. This is the story of a raccoon named RJay who succumbed to the temptation and tried to rob a very nasty and very big bear, named Vincent (Nick Nolte gives his voice to the bear - and he sound like a real, real bad guy!). And now he has four days to get all the food he stole (and lost) back, otherwise he is bear snack. Only one solution to do that - get some help and stole all this food from humans. And he gets some help, from a bunch of animals, whose forest was mostly destroyed. Those animals are:
- Verne, a very conservative turtle ("It is me. Tentative. There are even places in my shell where I have never been yet")

Enter Tim Burton Director master of the dark spooky film noir and you have an animated film drawing experience from A Nightmare Before Christmas but not quite as good a tale....The Corpse Bride is simplistic in plot when a young man attempts to wed a bride, a ghost bride from the past who was taken away from this world yearns to marry the young man instead.Whilst initially bitter and heartbroken the young man tries to escape to no avail and therein lies the story to come......The Corpse Bride is a dark look at at a children's tale with a happy ending with various characters such as the real life bride's snobbish parents and a make belief land of the dead. This is an entertaining tale if not fantastic....but one thing that is fantastic is the picture quality of this hd-dvd. ... Read More:

Tim Burton has become reknowned for his movies about the weird and the macabre. Sometimes weird, FUNNY and macabre.

And "Corpse Bride" has all three qualities, mixing in the bizarre and wacky with a bittersweet love story. It also has the sort of goofy ickiness that really expert haunted houses have -- you're enjoying the ghouls and skeletons too much to care who it's aimed at. This is an "underground" film in the best sense of the word.

Victor (Johnny Depp) is at the rehearsal for his arranged wedding, when he forgets his vows. Not a good omen. He runs out and rehearses it by himself, and ends up slipping the ring on the finger of a dead girl, Emily (Helena Bonham Carter). But Emily, who died tragically, falls in love with Victor and considers herself ... Read More:

What a great movie! Brad Pitt as the voice of Sinbad is excellent, his vocals bring so much energy to the role that you nearly forget you are watching an animated film.

The movie itself is very fast with great action scenes, wonderful animation (no less can be expected from that amazing DreamWorks team), great one-liners and an invloving story/adventure. The music and sound effects are excellent adding greatly to the enjoyment of this movie.

The DVD extras are very good indeed. There are a large number of games for the kids which should keep them entertained for several hours and several other features, including a 'making of'. This is a great family movie and a good watch on a slow Sunday afternoon.

I bought my set from Direct Offers for 2.21 plus 1.24 postage via Amazon marketplace - it arrived shrink-wrapped.

So I've already seen X-men 1-3 at the cinema and looking forward to seeing them again. All watchable.

Just watched Fantastic 4 and it was a fun movie - not exactly challenging, but keeps going at a nice pace. Fun stuff.

My only reservation on buying this boxset was that I had read reviews saying that the director's cut of Daredevil is so much better than the original version - then when I open this set I find that it is the director's cut that has been included.

So, haven't watched this or Elektra yet, but already feel like I've got my money's worth and much more.

Firstly I love this movie and the film alone would get 5 stars. However, even taking into account the limitations of watching ANYTHING on a small screen, this lost out more than most. In crowded scenes like in the bar I found it hard to keep focus where it's meant to be as it's all crammed in a tiny area. The beautiful character detail is lost making it look like a childish cartoon rather than the art it is. The sound quality of the player also doesn't do it justice, some of the instrumentals just don't come out that well.

If you love the movie and want to be able to watch it on the go, this will be useful. If you've never seen it before, do yourself a favour and get the DVD.
