I'm not one for hyperbole but I'd be hard pressed to think of a better sit com in the canon of British comedy. You heard me! Peep Show has earned its place on the vaunted Brit Com pedestal along with Fawlty Towers, Blackadder and Only Fools and Horses. Starring comedy duo David Mitchell and Robert Webb the premise of the program is that it is shot entirely in the first person (actors use hand held or even head mounted cameras while they act through their scenes) and we the audience are privvy not only to their points of view but to their thoughts as well. British comedy, or comedy in general, doesn't get much better "dan dis". It's black, mean, edgy and full of wonderfully embarrassing social situations and tons of catch phrases you'll find yourself using (and I'm not even English-speaker per se!). The predecessor of this series, the chat show parody Knowing Me, Knowing You With A.P., was also fine (the Christmas special Knowing Me, Knowing Yule in particular), but I think this is a huge improvement from that. This is largely because it's not restricted to that chat show format. In my opinion, this is also of higher quality than the slightly uneven and more "sit-commy" 2nd series. I love Tamsin Greig. I love Mac. I love this. Green Wing to me is just one of the most perfect comedies out there. The comic timing is unbelievable, and the cast is one of the strongest I've ever seen. Long Live Green Wing.

I didn't see much of the first series of this show and what I did see I wasn't sure about, but I decided to watch the second series and I'm certainly not regretful. The humour in this show oozes hilarity. There are a range of sketches, from the spoofs of the "original" versions of modern movies, such as the Bourne Identity, which sees just about every character rapidly contradict everything they say "...or do they?" to the bizarre spookiness of the sketch in which a writer in an inn repeatedly asks the landlady if she has heard of his works, which to his frustration she never has. Then comes the random madcap humour of Nelson Mandela's tribute to Blur, or the brilliant Clarkson Island and a soft and "wibbly" version of 'Kingdom'. Other notables ... Read More:

After such a long time it was great to see Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse back as a team on TV. This series is a work of genius. There are 'so ridiculous it's funny' sketches like the drug/booze-selling Nelson Mandela and the cultured, posh-talking builders to mickey-takes of Bono and Guy & Madonna to hilarious reflections on modern life such as the obese kids and "I saw you coming". Move over, all those here-today-gone-tomorrow sketch shows which seem to be smothering TV. The kings of the modern sketch show have returned.

What a fantastic series, irreverent and risque, apart form the cultural references about music and z list celebs of late 90's, the writing could certainly be relevent in todays society. The writing is sharp, coarse and acerbicly camp(fantastic). Although Gimme Gimme is not as 'of the wall' as 'Father Ted', it was incredibly brave for 10 years ago and it certainly could raise an eye brow even now. Please bestow Kathey Burke and James Dreyfus with a peerage in honour of thier services to comedy and if that can't be done, then I think that the series should be brought back into the naughties, it would be great to see what the writers could do with these two characters in present times. Hi... Sadly, this was not the hidden gem I'd hoped for (Black books and Sugar Rush cetainly were). It is realistic and the acting is good. I did watch each episode of series one, looking forward to what would be happening next because each episode finishes with a kind of cliffhanger or crisis point I found it confusing and frustrating that the exact endings of each episode are not continued into the following episode, but you do soon get the gist of the events and emotions in the characters' lives... and that's what I found boring.... With the exception of Louise, I didn't like any of the main characters.... so selfish, self-obsessed and closed. But worse, they are rubbish friends. There are funny moments, but ... Read More:

I Loved this DVD. I'm a huge fan of French and Saunders, and was a bit daunted at what to expect reading the other reviews, but wasn't at all dissapointed. I believe F&S were at their comic best in the late 80's early 90's which is where most of these sketches came from. Fantastic stuff. If you like the latest offerings from the girls then this DVD probably isn't for you,but if you're a purist like me, then its amazing. The detail and timing in the 'School Trip' sketch is perfect and very very funny. There are a couple of classic sketches not included, again early 90's late 80's ones (BBC Wardrobe girls, 'its not a Jan Leeming' and "Chambermaid!"), would have been excellent additions. Might as well get on the bandwagon and moan about lack of extras on BBC DVD's, which always drags ... Read More:

Lets not beat around the bush - its not as good as Seasons 1 & 2 but at least they recognised that and stopped flogging a dead horse (re Ab Fab). But it still has its moments that has me laughing outloud. But the more I watch Season 3 the more I begin to like it. Maybe a little more mainstream than 1 & 2 due to moving to BBC1 and maybe a little less rude but the team of Burke/Dreyfuss can still deliver those very nasty and rude lines with the necessary force to make you wince and wonder at their perverse and glorious relationship. In all, the weakest of the three but just scrapes 4 stars from me.
