My husband bought this film/Tv Series and I was dreading some really cheesey fantasy film but no, instead what I saw was a well written, well acted, beautifully directed film with great special effects and hardly an ounce of cheese! I read the Norse myths about ten years ago and loved them, and this film is very much in that vein. Personally I think this film will become one of my top ten favourites. I didn't get bored once or find myself clock watching. I just wonder I'd never heard of it before. If heroic sagas are your cup of tea you won't be dissapointed. Buy it, it's a great film and one I'm sure you'll keep in your collection forever.

As with the first season, the writing and acting are first rate. This is a compelling series and well worth watching if you've enjoyed other HBO productions. For some, the violence and sexuality may be a bit too explicit; however, nothing in this series is ever gratuitous. I found myself genuinely involved with these characters--on both sides of the bars--and was sorry to the series end.

Watch and enjoy!

This is a brilliant but nightmarish film.Based on a sequence of articles by two German journalists, later made into a book,it shows the decline of a teenage girl as she enters the drug subculture of West Berlin in the 1970s.The actors are mainly amateurs, but they come up with impressive performances.
The soundtrack by David Bowie(who lived in Berlin in the late 1970s)is great, with the jolly, optimistic sound of "Heroes" at the start, then,as the film goes on,being replaced by the eerie electronic sounds of the "Low" and "Heroes" albums. His own cameo performing a fine rendition of "Station to Station"is worth a watch too.
If you have teenage children,it will be your worst nightmare come true, but you may find they enjoy it too(my 17 year old ... Read More:

It is well known that men sometimes die while having sex. It is especially likely to happen when an older man with a heart condition engages in vigorous sex with a younger woman. There are many worse ways to die!
When it is suspected that the woman, knowing her partner to have a weak heart, surreptitiously adds cocaine to his medication, heightens his excitement with some sado-masochistic rituals, and then inherits a large sum of money when he dies, you have the ingredients of the story behind 'Body of Evidence'. The woman in question, played by Madonna, is accused of commiting murder with her body.
This is a light hearted, well directed film with an intelligent script.
I have never been a fan of Madonna but this film could go a long ... Read More:

This film struggles to be as close to the book of Marion Zimmer-bradley, but it is not. It gives an idea though, and urges the viewr to be a reader of the wonderful inspiring book of the late Marion. The music is excellent, though and Angelica Huston a brilliant actress as always. And Margulies is the perfect Morgaine. I would love to see in the future, though another film or mini series, "faithful" to the book.

Whilst not in the same class as "Rome", this film nevertheless fills out Caesar's early life in an interesting way and with reasonable accuracy. The film boasts superb performances from Richard Harris and Chris Walken. The central character is also performed with skill except that he doesn't do a lot of ageing throughout the 30+ years of the drama.

Don't, however, purchase this version - it has been drastically cut for some perverse reason by over 40 minutes from the version transmitted on BBC. The region 1 version is the one to get, it is full length, and if I was reviewing this one I would give it three, maybe four stars.

Where does one start with LAST EXIT TO BROOKLYN?
Let's start, as many do, with the book. It is without a doubt a literary masterpiece, littered with low-life characters each leading a loveless existence. When I first read it the intense, pulsing, musical style of the prose often left me breathless. The unbearably dark passages that Selby led me down quite frankly infected my psyche. It is an incredible book. "An urgent ticker tape from hell..." wrote one journalist on its release. Amen to that.

When I purchased this DVD I had not seen the movie adaptation and, to be honest, I slapped it in to my DVD player with a little trepidation. I furrowed my brow, convinced that (as with many adaptations) it would simply be a watered down version of the ... Read More:

DVD : Rasputin [1996] (REGION 2) (PAL) [Dutch Import]

Whilst not a lover of true stories that are brought to the silver screen, I was impressed with this movie. It was seeing Alan Rickman here play 'Rasputin' that convinced me that he is probably one of the greatest living actors! He played the part perfectly - despite all the distasteful characteristics of the person that was 'Rasputin', Rickman manages to still enchant, draw, and 'seduce' the viewer with immense power of 'presence' - which is exactly what the real man must have done. The charisma that Rickman was able to exude whilst portraying the persona so well, I found quite hypnotic, and helped me understand how and why so many people would have accepted anything he said and did. The 'whole' story of course is most distressing - particularly ... Read More:
