Certainly no classic, and some sections of over long dialogue make it drag in places, but it is not a disaster. I really didn't like Burt Reynolds as the king, he just doesn't have the presence to carry it off. But other than that the characters do an ok job with sloppy direction. There are a lot of loose ends, for example what happened to M. Lillard's character? What happened to Christina Lokken after she sloped off across the mountain? It is certainly no worse than some of those daft 1980's fantasy films, eg Krull so give it a go but not with high expectations.

This film has good sets, decent actors and a basis for a good story. However the lack of direction is evident from the outset. It wanders aimlessly along in a most tedious and frustrating manner. And I ended up with the feeling that the talents of Ben Kingsley and Michael Madsen were completely wasted. Kristinna Loken of course looks great without having to try. But this is not enough of a distraction to save an otherwise dire effort. Not one I'd recommend.

I never played the video game, but I watched Postal anyway. There is a certain hard black humor throughout the film, which some folks might find revolting, so if you're easily offended and don't like morbid black humor and lots of kills, AVOID. Of course it's a no-brainer, but far better than any American Pie-crap that got thrown at us, this one actually is FUNNY. Also is Uwe Boll's only watchable film up to date.

From Director Uwe Boll In The Name Of The King, comes an epic, which I enjoyed
Uwe Boll seems to get a bad rap,but I always find his films interesting

His early work was kinda shaky, but with every new release he gets better.
I loved the two Bloodraye films.

In The Name Of The King is terrific with Jason Stratham doing his thing to good effect.Kristanna Loken is good too.

The CGI is quite good.
The Lords Of The Ring referances though borrowed are no worse than George Lucan and Speilberg copying from films gone by.

The Bluray edition is very sharp and great color

Highly Reccomended.

Having never played an Alone In The Dark game prior to the 2008 reimagining, the only thing that was familiar to me in this film was the name Edward Carnby. Despite this, I actually enjoyed this film a fair bit (having seen it on ITV4 yesterday). Christian Slater is too nice a guy to be the Edward Canby who fights for his life in Central Park, but he fits into the script of this film surprisingly well. And you can't complain if you have Tara Reid in a film, other than "can we have more of her". The monsters (creatures, not humans) are well animated and although the story didn't make any sense, I enjoyed the pace of the film so much I didn't even think about that until after.

As far as plot and setting goes, the 2008 game is far superior (as most people will agree) ... Read More:

I just purchased House of the Dead and I really enjoyed it. Most people hated the film but I thought it was really good. Although the acting is cheesy, the storyline is bad and the shots of the games that are shown are quite weird, if you want a film with non-stop action, then House of the Dead is a great choice.

Uwe Boll- is a love or hate director-
But don't listen to the Haters, with this film he has pushed some boundaries within horror and that is hard to do nowadays- (If people can do better- then get out there and show us! and stop bloody moaning!!)
There are some very disturbing death scenes - and Uwe has been relentless - I am an hardened gore fan and even i was a little disturbed (in a good way) by the prolonged- single take hammer death with the woman on the chair! Nice!!
Don't buy if easily offended- but if you like your serial killer horror brutal and gory- then this is a must! But you must get the Unrated version!!
P.s-
Please Ignore the DVD artwork for the U.S.A release (unrated) - Why they decided to put this silly woman on the cover i can't work out??? ... Read More:
