this is my fave movie ever amazingly acted by vivien leigh and gable-if you read the book first it can be kind of weres wade and ella? but i loved this film i have seen it 100000000000000000 times!i love it because it dosnt have a fairy tale ending but it does leave it open? imo they do get back togther in the end there made for each other even if thats not really what the films about! the film is sad funny well acted and the best film ever!

Yes,this is a 70 year old movie and it has dated somewhat- but what entertainment value you get on this 4 disc DVD- it is without doubt one of the best DVDs ever released and the picture quality is as good as if it was made in the last few years. They don't make movies like this anymore and they never will again but at least we and future generations can always appreciate Gable and Leigh at their best and believe me millions of viewers will still be watching them in 100 years time when present so called movie stars will be long forgotten.

A rich brat (Freddy Bartholomew) is dysfunctional due to his environment. There is always Sheryl Temple type stories of some kid being orphaned and mistreated. Luckily this is not one of those movies. Everyone except the kid has a full understanding of the problem and good solutions. The school authorities say that he has good potential, His father takes a direct interest and it was just unforeseen circumstances that changed his life. He falls off the ship and is rescued by a fisherman. He must stay on board for the duration of the season. This makes a natural environment to learn bonding and character. It is not the outcome, but the process, which intrigues us and some unforgettable acting by Spencer Tracy.

two versions of "dr. jekyll and mr. hyde" for the price of one. a very good deal. on side a, the 1932 film (filming was actually completed in 1931) is by far the best adaptation of the novel, and certainly far better than the one with spencer tracy. fredric march gives an outstanding performance in the title roles. slightly too theatrical at times, but great nevertheless - especially as hyde. his evil side really shows. for the time, there was some remarkable camera work during the transformation scenes. they still hold up extremely well after all these years. different lighting filters were used to change the colours on fredric march's face by over-lapping them or something like that. previous editions have been censored quite heavily. i once ...
