DVD : Centennial: The Complete Series (REGION 1) (NTSC)
As a rule, mini series have aspired to the label `epic'. By having starrier cast names, bigger sets, and of course more worldwide locations. This early mini series from the late 70's did something different - it kept the same location - the fictional town of Centennial, and charted the creation and evolution of the land and then the town, and the people that came and had an impact. So instead of the characters being large and the locations serving to tell us about the characters, the people are the ephemeral ones, passing through and hoping to leave their stamp on history. It's typical Michener in its style, and works perfectly in the mini series format - elegiac, rather than just epic.
So the story unfolds over 26 hours of TV of a ... Read More:

My experience with Quantum Leap: I watched it a few times as a kid and I loved it. A couple of years ago I started buying the Dvds. Let me tell you that: The first season (with 9 episodes I think) is very very good. While not all episodes are excellent, it's an almost must-have season.

But after that, my god the series gets sooooo boring. I currently have watched ALL seasons, and I have to say, buy the first one but do not have high expectations for the rest (2-5). They are predictable and boring to death. Too bad too see a really good series to get ruined by weak storylines.

Well, Im still waiting for the classic episodes such as REDWOLF, but we get some mediocre episodes on this dvd. The story lines are good but somehow the action in less than happening, only a few good sequences in 'The American dream'. I am aware that there are loads more episodes on vhs, but they need to bring them out faster on dvd!!
Overall good for the collection but certainly not as good as volume 3!!

Well, Airwolf vol. 3 features more action from the brooding Hawke, the cuddly Santini and my favourite helicopter, Airwolf.

I could complain that the various DVD releases feature episodes out of sequence but seeing as some episodes are better than no episodes at all, I will ignore that.

The first episode on the DVD is 'Moffett's Ghost', an absolutely gripping episode. I'll backtrack for a minute. In the pilot episode, Airwolf's creator-a Dr. Charles Moffett-designed Airwolf and then went mad and went to Libya. Hawke and Satini travelled to Libya, took Airwolf and killed Moffett. Everythings okay, right? Wrong! It would seem that Moffett had programmed a virus into Airwolf which would be triggered if Airwolf didn't receive a code after several ... Read More:

I enjoyed this, but I was disappointed because despite being called "Volume 1", this disk starts at episode 12. I was expecting to see the pilot episode and was disappointed. That said, this was a lot of fun. Definitely worth a watch.

In my review of Airwolf DVD Vol. 1, I wrote some background on the show itself (hey, take a look at my review if you wish). As stated there, Airwolf was a fantastic show ahead of it's time. And Vol. 2 here give us more fantastic action from Hawke, Santini and most importantly...Airwolf, the Mach 1 chopper that kicks butt!

The first episode on this DVD is 'Mad Over Miami' where Hawke and Santini join forces with Cuban freedom fighters to aid the release of Cuban prisoners. Great great episode!

The second episode is 'And They Are Us'. Hawke and Santini travel to an African nation to prevent a coup but whilst there, Hawke meets an old Vietnam chopper pilot who is now a mercenary and who may know the location of Hawke's MIA brother. A good episode ... Read More:

Movies are for ones entertainment and should not be taken too seriously, and I cannot agree with the sentiments expressed by bookholic "ADB".This movie, although not the greatest,is worth watching. If one is looking for authenticity, then bookholic should, perhaps, watch documentaries.
I watched this movie with my family, and it was enjoyed by all, even by my wife who tends to be on the critical side.
The movie is in good condition, and I would recommend it for family viewing,as long as it is not taken as truth.

DVD : Walker Texas Ranger: The First Season [1994] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
One of the best tv action shows to ever grace our screens.Of course, that's just my humble opinion! Chuck Norris is Cordell Walker,Texas Ranger.A decent man,who fights numerous bad guys with his superb martial arts skills, and always helps those who need the help.I liked it for the many pretty damsels in distress he rescues! Its great to see a show, with a decent hero always saving the day.I've read people saying this is a corny show.No way!If its action you want, then I personally recommend it.Enjoy!
