To the reviewer who posed the question of whether I would have preferred half an hour of this magnificent film to have ended up on the cutting room floor, I can give an emphatic reply: absolutely not! I loved every second and could have carried on watching for longer, days if necessary!!

I was never bored for a moment, ironic given my self-acknowledge low boredom threshold. Why? Everywhere you look there is beauty: for starters, the sheer scale and grandeur of the breathtaking Patagonian scenery in recreating this epic journey, which during the final scenes where the hero swims a river never before swum to get to the leper colony reminded me in some small measure of Werner Herzog's madcap adventures in the Amazon. In the creation, ... Read More:

A beautiful, touching film with breathtaking Walter-Salles-style cinematography and a truly heart-rending storyline. When 'cheating' Dora uses up most of the film's plot to maternally befriend a needy 9 year old orphan, hope, love and most importantly, honesty "finally" shines through. It's a subtle and calmly portrayed masterpiece that ought to be considered as slow moving but actually keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. With horrifying truths about: life in Brazil - a city that doens't seem to care about its 'under-citizens' and human survival in a rat race that moves forward relentlessly, trampling and crushing those that might lose their way, this film reaches the viewer from all sides as much as faith, hope and charity finally reaches Dora.

This film is a visual feast; the cinematography is utterly exquisite and even without a storyline, I would have been transfixed throughout. Walter Salles (Central Station, Motorcycle Diaries) is fast becoming one of my all time favourite screen directors. This is a tale of family honour, pointless revenge, brotherly love, hopeless division, 'an eye for an eye until everyone is blind,' says little Pacu. An age old family feud separates the two families and determines that their beautiful sons perish, one by one. Tonio, (Rodrigo Santoro) is trying to seek love and reason (as well as finish his chores) before his time is up - when the blood stain turns yellow in the wind and he will be hunted down. Set in 1910, in the desert landscape of the Brazilian Northeast, it ... Read More:

This is a great look at Che's travels around South America on a ponderous, unstable old bike with his friend and fellow traveller, Alberto. It has slightly more detail than the book (of the same title)fleshing out some of the encounters and stories and really gives a clearer idea of the things they experienced on their travels. It is not only a great travelogue, but it is also a great insight into what made Che become the revolutionary he did. It looks at the exploits and relationships he experienced on the road, looking day to day for the next meal, lift or bed. The direction is superb and some of the imagery of the things they saw on their travels is simply amazing. A good film whether your interested in Che or not.

I thought this was actually pretty good,no I haven't seen the Japanese original,I have seen both versions of The Grudge though and I was pleasantly surprised by that(the American one),It's a rare thing,a 'horror' film with no gore,no gratuitous violence and thankfully no potty mouths, there is honestly more bad language in five minutes of an Eli Roth film than in my entire DVD collection, possibly even my CDs as well!

The strength of Steven King is being keeping his creepiness on the edge of what can be real or normal. This story, a remake of the Japanese film by Hideo Nakata and based on "Honogurai Soko Kara" by Koji Suzuki is one of those that are just on the edge of real.

Probably mentally challenged Dahlia Williams (Jennifer Connelly) is in the middle of a nasty divorce and due to economics is moving with her daughter `Ceci' (Ariel Gade) to a creepy slum tenement. Her daughter is also going a little funny, seeing dead people and so are we. Can her mother turn this all around and pull us out of this slump with a happy ending? Only time will tell. Now sit back and do not get caught talking to the invisible or very visible Natasha Rimsky (Perla Haney-Jardine.)

THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES has an Argentine medical student and his biochemist pal on a backpacking road trip. There'd be nothing remarkable about the story except that it's ostensibly true and the student eventually matured into Che Guevara, that revolutionary whose memory is revered by dissidents and the politically correct everywhere.

Gael Garcia Bernal is Ernesto Guevara, who, with one year of med school remaining, is off with Alberto Granado (Rodrigo de la Serna) on a 12,000+ kilometer lark through Argentina, Chile, Peru and points north on the latter's decrepit motorcycle in search of adventure, self discovery, and babes. As the bike gives up it's ghost at about the film's midpoint, the title THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES may be misleading. But, you get the picture. ... Read More:
