This film must be in your collection if you are interested in the Art of erotic cinema. This Art is, as far as I can see, practically non-existent, (except in brief images), or at least examples of it are very hard to find, and I would welcome any help I can get in expanding my knowledge.
Unfortunately I am not referring to the film as a whole but am purely selecting the single scene and it's short coda which occurs near the beginning of the film when Emmannuelle couples with two strangers, one after the other, while on a plane on her way to her husband in Bankok. It is really the first of these couplings which is interesting but the other one supplies a fitting supplement rounding it off like a piece of music.
This scene is almost ... Read More:

Shameless once again bring an excellent erotic classic to dvd in a lovely 2.35:1 16:9 transfer. The film is a classic of euro sleaze with the gorgeous Laura Antonneli frequently naked to hold your attention. It is worth noting that those spoilsports at the BBFC have cut 1.05s from the film. Dont let this put you off though as it will not ruin your enjoyment of the film.

The Frightened Womman has been restored by Shameless to give us the longest version ever and it comes with the directors seal of approval who claimed "This is the version of my film to watch."The dvd has been put together from various elements and so the picture quality varies , though for the most part the picture is very good. The dvd is 16:9 enhanced and the only extras are the trailer and trailers for other films.

So is the film any good? Yes, it has grooovy 1960s production design and the story is quite good. The performances of Phillip Leroy and Dagmar Lassander are very good and the film is full weird little touches that add to the entertainment value . The music soundtrack is good too. Shameless are doing a great job and this is ... Read More:

Awful awful film. This is only for real cinema buffs with a lot of time on their hands. I have made attempts to grow an appreciation of this type of film but would rather watch the snooker and/or paint dry than have to watch this film again.

Russ Meyer has to be one of the most under-rated directors of all-time. His films are comicbook and cartoonish in style, everything is exaggerated. Men are generally portrayed as weak, impotent losers to which his powerful, oversexed women throw scorn and ridicule. This film is no exception. And along with FW Murnau's Expressionist masterpiece "Faust", "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" also features one of my favourite opening sequences to any film. Go baby, go!

'Helen Mirren wanders through the whole thing looking aloof and rather bored. In the making of documentary she gets the best line describing the film: "It's an interesting mix of Art and genitals" and then gives the perfect smirk to camera." Sullivat

'Caligula' recounts the real life of the Roman emperor Gaius Caesar, known as Caligula, Malcolm McDowell. He ruled from 37-41 A.D. Caligula is believed by historians to have gone mad shortly after assuming office. He wasted his resources on public shows; exiled or murdered most of his family; enjoyed watching people tortured and killed while he ate dinner; made his pet race horse a consul; proclaimed himself a god; and had temples built in his honor. He was also the man who was ... Read More:

I saw this film once in 1978 on an afternoon, when I had nothing better to do, in the old Odeon on Leicester Square (London). It is now as dated as the decor in the theater was then. Horrible stuff at the time to watch - even worse now.

Heaven knows what happened to some minds in the 70's. Music that never suited the film it accompanied, scripts that were concocted in the deepest recess of the lost mind and sexual fantasies run amok. Inspired by the Marquis de Sade's tales and fake diaries of fake nuns (who were male) this film is utter trite and deserves to be met with derision.

If it weren't so grotesque it could be an insult to nuns the world over.

If you like women from the 1970's with large breasts you will enjoy this film to a point. There are some stunning looking women in this film, but a disappointment for me was the all to brief appearance of Uschi Digard.
The story itself provides the greatest disappointment though, it lacks continuity and is unclear, and the motives for the violence in the film are not apparent.
Some parts of the film are quite amuzing.
I give Super Vixens 3 stars, all of which are purely for Russ Meyers female casting choices
