I was counting on other peoples reviews in order to find something for my 2 year old. He was given a DVD of French songs and it has been HUGELY successful. Each song is a separate chapter so he can choose which one he wants to see and can watch the same one over and over and over again, until he knows the words and understands what is happening on the screen. I wanted the same thing with English songs and nursery rhymes which was why I bought this DVD. I needn't have bothered. The songs are sung FAR too fast, so that even I had a hard time keeping up and it was just a blur for my son. It may appear cheaper than the rest but there is a reason. No song is sung all the way through it jumps from song to song - in my opinion encourages the child to be hyper. Will not allow my daughter to watch it.

i thought i'd found a good compilation for my two year old ; the sound is terrible and they could have at least put subtitles as sometimes we don't understand all of the words

I was hoping to find the Wheels on the Bus sing-a-long programme that sometimes appears on GMTV at the weekends. Instead this DVD, which appears promising, is clearly a very low budget production. The animation is the worst I have seen in years, being of poor quality, with limited actions heavily repeated, which do not always accurately represent the nursery rhymes(eg. 'Dance to your Daddy' is supposed to be a 'laddie', but is depicted as a girl). The rhymes and songs are often either too old fashioned for today's children, the harsher version of the rhyme (ie. 'The lady who lives in the shoe' beats her children!) or with music that bears no resemblance to the current version sung by our children. I am not the most 'PC' parent I know. But please - DO ... Before Big Brother & the like, Rainbow led the way - a fly on the wall study of a single parent family and their daily lives. No wonder it lasted for 21 years, this is great stuff, and it is painful to think that some kids don't get to see George, Zippy, Bungle & Geoffrey. This is a wonderful recollection of the programme, dipping into what they did best - stories, songs and the wonderful interaction between the characters. Kids TV had admittedly moved on, but kids still love this, and I'm pleased to see my son watching the same bits over and over and asking for it. Good entertainment and a crime that it was ever taken off TV.

The DVD'd overall are very good, however, they are rather dated, and laughable for me to watch, a flashback to the early nineties!! However, she doesn't mind, and the DVD's keep her amused for a long time, particularly the animals. Good overall value for money
