Shaun the Sheep - Saturday Night Shaun is one of those rare things that can be enjoyed by everyone. It makes me laugh out loud, and I've enjoyed watching it as a family with my nieces (aged 8 and 6) and my parents (in their 70s!). Wonderfully observed characters, good story-lines. We watched each short more than once, and everyone had a particular favourite, so it's good value because you want to go back to it again and again.

How can anyone find this movie funny? Maybe it is OK if you are a big fan of Wallace and Gromit, but if you are used to American movies such as Over the Hedge, it is dull, dull, dull. Nowhere near as good as Over the Hedge or Madagascar.

Everything starts with everyone in the town looking forward to a vegetable competiton, but that all changes when a few rabbits are on the loose, and Wallace is the Were-Rabbit (quite scary for youngsters) believe it or not. The veg competiton then turns into a big battle between Gromit, another dog Phillip, Lady Tottington and the Were-Rabbit (Wallace.) I thought the movie would bew abseloutely fantastic, but I found that I could not get a single laugh out of it. Do not buy, just get the famous ... Read More:

The sheer skill involved in making these films along with amazing scripts and fabulous humour makes for entertainment that myself and my kids thoroughly enjoy. Any time it goes on I feel myself drawn to it. It is ageless and I can't recommend it highly enough.

The chickens are tired of life on the farm, and fed up with being eaten when they get too old to produce eggs. They hatch various plans to escape , but none succeed. Then Rocky the Rooster (voiced by Mel Gibson) lands among them, and they think that he can fly and will help them to escape. But can he really fly?

This film is very amusing and the children love it. I enjoy it too. I do however always find myself rather cynically wondering (at the end of the film, when they have escaped to their life of freedom), how they are going to fare the first time they encounter a fox, or when it gets cold and food is scarce and they find themselves longing for their nice warm hen-house back on the farm. Stifle such doubts, just enjoy it.

I haven't actually bought this yet but I love these films! My favourite is the classic "The Wrong Trousers" with the hilariously evil penguin causing havoc. I also love "A Grand Day Out" though - just the thought of the space alien's holiday snaps (skiiing with a woolly scarf flying behind him) make me chortle. The animation is fantastic through all these films, with just the right mix of pathos and humour. I also love the Northern setting and the visual puns are wonderful. And I suppose you could put your cheese in the tin.

This DVD is made up of 13 episodes that has a mixture of old classic Morph clips segued with new ones. It works OK in that sense, but as The Amazing Adventures of Morph existed without this footage I wonder if it was strictly necessary. (Trying to reach a new young generation?)

This does not have any of Tony Hart's original narration either which is also a shame for those who remember it with fondness like I do. But what really got to me after upgrading from VHS (you can get hold of this DVD very cheaply it would seem...) is that IT LOOKS LIKE THIS WAS A TRANSFER FROM ANALOGUE TAPE!

This product as already mentioned by hundreds of other reviewers, compiles most of Aardman's best animations from the early 80s up to the mid 90s, these include the much loved "Creature Comforts", the hilariously clever "Pib and Pog", the story of two brothers, strangely united by war in "Watt's Pig", the intelligently animated "Owzat", the dark thriller "Babylon: Sweet Disaster" and random conversation pieces put to bloody talented animation.

The variety is like watching an Andy Warhol film festival; random and very abstract films that jump from one extreme to the other. Yet each animation is buzzing with ideas and clever humour guaranteed to delight a patient audience. I say patient because at first glance, the average viewer may not understand certain ... DVD : Rex the Runt - The Complete Collection (REGION 1) (NTSC)
A two DVD set of this obviously unappreciated classic Aardman plasticine animation- featuring the adventures of Rex, Wendy, Bad Bob and my favourite, Vince. Totally bizarre twists of logic-they shrink ray cities and keep them as pets, but the sewage systems make messes all over the floor, Vince after recovering from random Pavarotti disease has an affair with a vacuum cleaner, bolshy ants steal the dogs' semi-detached house- see what I mean? Definitely not designed for little kiddies. In the absence of .. (Spaghetti).... any one brave enough to release it in the country it was created in, it's well worth ...(Tuesday)... investing in a spare multiregion player for this series alone.
