Unlike many standard sporting gaffs DVDs, this cricket compilation is more than just a montage of dropped catches and daft run outs. It's a "top 30" of recent moments as selected by England's Barmy Army that range from the funny (Inzamam collapsing onto his stumps) to more serious, like the Alan Donald vs Michael Atherton duel from Trent Bridge in 1998. Monty's links to camera show his TV presenting skills are less in line with his bowling ability and more like his fielding, but they aren't too bad. More importantly the talking heads used more frequently are the likes of Simon Hughes, Phil Tuffnel, Derek Pringle and Blowers from TMS who all deliver interesting and witty insights into the clips shown. This is an excellent Video showing how when you cheat by polishing the ball illegally , you can win a cricket series. A worth while 'watch' for any prospective Cricket Cheat. Read all about it in Marcus Trescothick's Book "Coming Back To Me" where he raves about the wonders of Murray Mints,the swing Bowlers friend and how he and the Murray Mints were instrumental in winning the Ashes series.

I saw Blowers on stage earlier this year and this DVD has brought it all back to me. Quite magical. It is packed full on wonderful anecdotes about his childhood, his family, his friends and, of course, loads of Test Match Special stories. There is also a great interview with Henry talking about various aspects of cricket which was fascinating. Great stuff.

I think that they should have added the Fourth & Fifth Tests on a second DVD, and perhaps they should release the whole series on a three disc boxset. For that you get Ian Botham taking five wickets for one run in twenty-eight balls, then his century at Manchester where he had the temerity to hook Dennis Lillee not only once but twice, considering that Dennis Lillee had a very successful series and year (39 wickets in the series, 85 wickets overall in the year. Only Shane Warne has bettered that.) There is also one priceless piece of commentary and perception made during the Headingley Match that was cut out of the original highlights, and on the DVD. While in some ways I agree with the negative views presented by others on this DVD, one has to admit that there is some good cricket on here, and some truly memorable moments. Gibbs' 6x6, Malingas four wickets in four balls and the catch of Leverock for example. Since it is so cheap the DVD is almost worth it for these highlights alone, but the really annoying bit is how the disk is divided into chapters. There is one chapter for each of the groups in the group stage, one chapter for the super eights, one for the semis, and one for the final. That's right, ONE chapter for the entire super eights, that is 24 games. So if you are looking for a highlight in the 22nd game, you have to fast-forward past 21 games first!
