This is as described - a documentary account of the making of the Cirque du Soleil LOVE show in Las Vegas. To expect a complete performance of the stage show would be asking too much. The show, like any other designed for the stage has to be seen..er...on the stage.
We've all heard criticism of the soundtrack album and about how the sacred work shouldn't be played around with - BUT don't forget, it's a soundtrack to a show, just as this film is a documentary about the way that the show came to life.
One thing that comes over in the film, as in the show, is the care in portraying the main players (ie the Beatles) as having a great collective sense of humour. Something easy to forget all these years later.
Having seen the show ... Read More:

I am not realy a Beatles fan I was born after the band split but this set tells the story of a band that still dominates the music scene. I liked the anthology on TV I like the music and the story behind the music. Brilliant.

The only negative thing about this film, is that is 2 hours (maby more) to short.

We can never get enough information about John, but this film gives the most important.

I'm not a very sensitive man, but i almost started to cry at the end of this film....

Good Lord! What a mess! No wonder the Stones suppressed this for almost 30 years . Forget being "upstaged" by the Who, this was a classic waste of money and is mainly interesting as a sort of unintentional comedy. The Who certainly ripped things up and proved themselves to be the best live performers in the world (like we needed any more evidence after Live at Leeds and Isle of Wight '71), but Jethro Tull are simply awful- they honestly look like circus performers, and one wonders how on earth they made the cut.

Taj Mahal steals the show with authentic Chicago style blues, but the rest of the performers, including the Stones, appear bored and confused. Special note should be made of the lackluster performance by John Lennon fronting what ... Read More:

DVD : Blue Suede Shoes - A Rockabilly Session [1985]
Quite simply one of the best live recordings ever made. Wonderful "rockabilly" and "rock 'n roll" songs, brilliantly played in a "low key" show that's packed full of the enthusiasm that only live music can generate. Eric Clapton, George Harrison & Ringo Starr do much more than just turn out to add "megastar" interest as they're quickly swept up by the electric atmosphere of the evening and, along with Dave Edmunds, Rosanne Cash and a host of others, become part of a hugely talented backing group who are clearly having the time of their lives playing along with a rock legend on top form. Carl Perkins signs off after the final, spine-tingling rendition of "Blue Suede Shoes" with tears of sheer joy streaming down his face - music doesn't get more "real" ... Read More:

DVD : Harry Nilsson: The Point [1971] (REGION 1) (NTSC)
This will be a very short review, because the point is... well, "The Point" is... it's one of those rare things that I feel is so perfectly and uniquely self-contained and wonderful that any attempt to describe it would harm it in some way. It just has to be watched.

I know that's a bit Zen, but that's how this film makes me feel. I love it! I wish it were on Region 2...
