I have admired Bjork from a distance as an original artist. However after hearing 'Venus as a boy' on a film track I decided to take the plunge and buy some of her music. This DVD was well reviewed so I thought this would be the one for me. I was not mistaken. This DVD is amazing! The music is great, the videos original and Bjork has a presence that is almost touchable. She is truly remarkable and I would recommend this DVD to all who want to experience
a true artist.

DVD : Bjork - Live DVD Archive [2007]

The best way to understand Bjork is to see her perform her songs live. And this really nice four disc box set does just that.
It's quite interesting to see not only her songs come alive, but to see her performance develop.

Disc 1: VESSEL
This goes back to the Debut era - and has 11 live tracks on it:
Human Behaviour/ Atlantic (a song that is really difficult to get hold of) / One Day/ Venus As A Boy/ Come To Me/ Anchor Song/ Seroplane/ Big Time Sensuality/ There's More To Life Than This/ Violently Happy/ Crying

In between each track Bjork - has some interesting film footage on her viewpoint on music and life in London. There is a harmless feeling of naivety about it all which is quite sweet. This is the 'Bjork' ... Read More:

When Bjork is on screen describing what the video clip for her song "Isobel" really means, you can't help but realise just how insane this quirky Icelandic singer really is. The clip is about a lonely girl training moths to fly small aeroplanes which will fly in our faces and snap us out of the rat-race trance we've got ourselves into. No, you don't find out anything about Bjork's personal life in this official documentary, but you do find out that Iceland's "volanic beats" and harsh landscape have indelibly influenced the way she plays music. You also find out how important the wonderful, playful artwork and costumes which accompany her songs actually are. Bjork is keen to carve out an individual meaning to define her native Iceland despite having lived ... Read More:

There is lots to experience at this 'Vespertine Live' performance without diversionary effects, drama, and visuals to detract from the genuine spirit, excellence and effort put into the performance, in this circumstance being focused more purely for music rather than media.

With live 'on stage' production, instrumental accompaniment, and mixing by American duo 'Matmos', a 12-member all female choir from Greenland, a Harpist: Zeena Parkins (also playing additional instruments), and the star of the show Bjork herself, all are joined below stage by the 'Il Novecento Orchestra', conducted by Simon Lee.

The Royal Opera House hosts a small looking stage in contrast with its great structural height. A carefully co-ordinated spotlight usage ... Read More:

since this dvd has only been released on Electra in America as aposed to little indian over here, it had to be shipped from Ameriaca. the DVD i got was in NTSC and not PAL so some videos (who is it and where is the line in particular) looked very... well American. maybe not an issue for everyone tho but it does seem to make the videos look a little weird.
This DVD contains an superb underwater jellyfishy video for Oceania with Bjork covered in scales, Who Is It filmed on the Icelandic desert with lots of bell sound goin on, a minimal beautiful animated video for Desired Constellation, and a very strange video for Where is the line. and the excellent Triumph Of A Heart Video. Having these videos alone would make this a worthy purchase for any Bjork fan but the addition ... Read More:

DVD : Bjork - Unplugged & Live [1994]
On reviewing this DVD, I was divided in opinion; although the MTV Unplugged performance is very good, the later MTV Live performance is of a clear sub-standard.
Bjork's opening performance of "Human Behaviour" for the Unplugged session sets the mood for the rest of the performance- stripped, sublime and definitely arousing. I was personally interested in the way that more dance-orientated material like "Big Time Sensuality" would be translated into an unplugged environment. And the end results were very pleasing- the material retains some link with the original, but numbers like "One Day" and "Aeroplane" show a more intimate side to the songs from "Debut" (this performance focuses on the songs from that album). Although Bjork's verbal interaction with the audience consists ... Read More:
