I managed to miss this in the cinema and waited a long time for it to turn up on DVD. Its a great DVD, the sound is good quality, the video shots are superb the atmosphere is electric. Its really nice the way Jagger comes across a bit tongue in cheek and the band don't seem to take it all too seriously. The Stones aren't the best band ever but they have a long list of rock songs which deliver and have delivered constistently since 1960. Its all good fun. Charlie Watts does a great job holding the rest of the band together, literally. And Jagger is still mesmeric to watch. I saw them once in Croydon in the '60's with Brian Jones, only for the sound to be obliterated totally by screaming girls. So it was nice ... Read More:

I was 26 and my girlfriend and i were lucky enough to be there. It made me so sad to see Freddie on this DVD and think he's no longer with us, he's Awsome! this is the best DVD i've ever bought, it's pure history!

I discovered Pink Floyd quite late in life, but better late then never they say. This is absolutely my favourite DVD/CD. If I to choose between this one and all the others I have, this would be the one!

I saw this concert orginally on the BBC, and have to say it was amazing. I agree that with Gabriel it may have been 6 stars, but if you see the build up you'll understand that's a whole different 'Lamb lies down on Broadway' project. I saw Genesis on some of their earlier tours like Invisible Touch, and to hear this, you would never have thought they had been away. They do an excellent blend of Epic's and shorter pop songs that should appeal to all ages of fans. OK, so it's nothing new, but enjoyable none the less! Gensis are back (at least for this concert anyway!)

Like the other reviewers here I watched this on BBC Four and it was certainly an interesting documentary. In some ways one time confirmed Reaganite Neil Young went up in my estimation, although he is still comes across at the age of 63 as confused, self centred, and contradictory as a teenager - no doubt one of the reasons he has stayed musically relevant over the years.Unfortunately, the two most politically aware members of CSNY, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash, don't really get much credit. At the beginning of the doc CSNY are introduced as legendary anti-war performers, which I confess, as someone who saw them live in 1974, I found rather confusing, because it was in fact CS&N who were overtly anti-war.For those who doubt this and think I'm doing Neil Young ... I wrote that the Silent Force tour DVD at Java Island concert was the most incredible live performance on DVD I've ever seen. I've changed my mind. This one is better and redefines the dictionary definition of awesome. Black symphony is an outstandingly spectacular show which lasts just under two hours. It commences in black and white with a specially written overture which sets the tone of the whole performance - grand and majestic. Jillian (I'd give my heart) is the opening song in a faultless set which flows perfectly, balancing rock with ballads, full accompaniment with simple acoustic. ... Read More:

A great film and another chapter in the fantastic life and career of Neil Young. This is the most relaxed Neil Young concert of the many that I have and is very reflective of his long career. Brilliant value for money yet again from Amazon. If you buy this make sure that you watch the special features DVD first, showing all the build up to the concert with the interviews and background information, it makes much better watching that way.
