Tell you what, this film was AMAZING! The CGI was so detailed and realistic (well.. as realistic as giant transforming robots can be!). I originally rented this on DVD, but got it on Blu-Ray earlier this week.
I'd never compare this to the Back to the Future trilogy, but if you liked those films, you want some amazing scenes and some all round fun, this is definitely for you.

When I sat down to watch this movie, I had no real expectations as the last Hulk movie was very poor, however with the recent spate of excellent Marvel films I was keeping my fingers crossed. Firstly I must say this was a huge improvement from the movie a few years back. The CGI was a lot less obvious and the movie had a much fuller story. Nice cameo from Lou Ferrigno as the security guard and of course Stan Lee. Looked good on Blu Ray, however not as much for me as Iron Man. Major downside for me was Liv Tyler, just didn't find her at all convincing.... to girly, breathless and pouting for a top scientist. I have to admit that I have not had the same issues on the Blu ray as some of the others here. Summary is good movie, just not quite up there ... Read More:

As other reviewers have noted, there was a general feeling of unease when a small, relatively unknown actor was slated to be the next James Bond. We needn't have worried, however, since all such concerns are dissipated in the first few moments of this latest addition to the Bond stable.

The opening sequence in grainy black-and-white is completely unexpected, beautifully handled and surprisingly gritty, setting the tone for the rest of the film. Within the first quarter of an hour or so we have had one of the most imaginative openings to a Bond, followed by one of the finer title sequences, topped off by a vertiginous (especially in Blu Ray!) chase sequence which may have you gasping.

Excellent stuff from director, cast and ... Read More:

What is so exquisite about Sleeping Beauty is that it looks like a medieval tapestry coming to life. If you look closely at the details in the backgrounds you can see little twists in the leaves and curves in the tree bark which overall gives an ornate and opulent look still refreshing to this day. It was the most expensive film in it's day, it took over four years to make and Walt Disney stated to his artists and animators that they should take their time over it, make it beautiful and so it came as a shock when it didn't do all that well in the cinemas. It wasn't really able to communicate to an american youth who were smoking things they shouldn't and it seemed this highly romantic film was too idealistic in it's portrayal of young love, it felt as ... What... was that it!!! was that what all the fuss was about? I can't believe I've just wasted 2hrs of my life plus forked out for tickets, pop corn & drinks to just to sit through this poorly written pap. The cast are OK & the effects & story are beleivable & passable enough on their own but dear, oh dear has no one bothered to tell the writter/direct how to build any suspence? At one point the script resembles a Christmas Panto more than a Hollywood blockbuster 'its behind you'

Main Documentary: encoded at 1080p24 (slowed down from original)
Making of Documentary & interviews: encoded in standard definition 50i

This is a good documentary, with a good, usually sharp picture for the main feature. It was filmed at 25p and 50i but they've slowed the whole thing down to 24p (except for the making of documentary & interviews, which are in standard definition 50i). Sometimes the picture is a bit juddery even on a HDTV capable of native 24p (which you'd have to get if you don't want 3:2 pulldown judder - which you wouldn't get if it was in it's native 25p/50i format) - which may be because of the slow down to 24p, losing motion resolution.

I'd have given this at least 4 stars if it was encoded at ... Read More:

This is an amazing film, with very high acting skill from Day Lewis. The acting skill of this is just under a Robert De Niro performance, I compare every actor to De Niro as he is the greatest actor of all time!
Daniel gets a 5 out of 5 for his acting, but the story of this film is not great, that is why for me it hits a 3 out of 5. There were 2 films of 2008 that were the best and that's "There will be blood" & "No country for old men" so if you are looking to get one of these in Blu ray and can't decide, then I would recommend "No country for old men". That film gets 5 out of 5 for me as the acting is amazing with an amazing story line.

But if you can get both that's even better, that's what i've done. Final note "There will be blood" ... Read More:

I am major fan of the Disney Pixar movies and always eagerly await the next one. I do like this film but personally I don't find it as funny as movies like Toy Story 1 & 2 and The Incredibles. Having said that there are some great characters in this film and being an animal lover I think all the rats are adorable. Overall though I would give the film itself 4 out of 5. As this is a 2 disc special with the animated shorts on, the overall package is definately a 5 out of 5. I would definately recommend getting this package as the shorts are great to watch. Some you will have already seen before but most you probably won't. I especially liked the alien abduction short, I almost wet myself laughing at that one. I would definately recommend this 2 disc special to anyone, really ... Read More:
