i was surprised by how big the box was but when i opened it, it was like christmas and easter all came at once!, i bet some people would give their 4 limbs to get all the b5 movies, tv series and extras all at a bargin price of £67 through express and £10 VAT, moreover it arrived within a few hours of ordering it, and started playing it as soon as a arranged the dvd's into order.

The quality is as i expected it from 1990's, however it said that this version is digitally remastered, but i don't see any improvement to the sound or visual which i though was a little strange however, it does not matter though. but thanks to amazon it's something i can just watch and pull up the episode without any real problem.

Not a feature length piece, more like finding two unseen episodes of series 5. The two pieces are stand alone, relatively slow paced episodes, focusing on a single dilemma in each.

They lack the interconnected richness of the greatest arc episodes, and of course they lack the full cast and station atmosphere, but I enjoyed them both and was glad for the new additions to the series.

The cast, old and new, was excellent, the special effects have jumped forward again, and the new look slightly edgy cinematography was intriguing.

Not having particular expectations of The Lost Tales helped me take it at face value. Since I'd only just caught up with series 5 for the first time, I didn't have a 9 year wait for ... Read More:

This fourth season of Babylon 5 is one of the best from the entire run of the show although the season is not without its flaws. The events detailed in this season cover a multitude of subjects including, among other things, the conclusion of the Shadow War, the retaking of Earth and a Minbari Class War. Of these plotlines I do feel that the Shadow War conclusion was a bit of an anticlimax and the Minbari Class War could have been shown in more detail than it was but all of this is made up for by the excellent way that the retaking of Earth was portrayed.

The show retains its brilliant acting and writing throughout this series and there is even a slight improvement in the special effects as well. Season four also includes many of my favourite ... Read More:

The final season of Babylon five is something of a series of two halves. In the beginning the season is slow to get going and has some of the worst episodes in the entire series but it does improve towards the end and the final three episode are, I feel, some of the best Babylon 5 has ever produced. I feel the main problem with season five is that they try to get too much into it, with the telepath rebellion and another Centauri war, the season feels rather rushed. Also with the loss of Marcus and Ivanova at the end of season four the addition of new recurring characters so late in the shows run would never rarely go down that well as it is difficult to grow to like and care for their replacements. Although it does get off to a rather disappointing start, season five ... Read More:

This third season of Babylon 5 sees the action tack a step up with the arc plot about the outbreak Shadow War taking centre stage. Other momentous things happen this year including an Earth Force civil war, the full story about what happened to Babylon 4 and Jeffery Sinclair meets his destiny. Another change to the show this season is the addition of the White Star, which is one of my all-time favourite sci-fi spaceships.

This year continues Babylon 5's habit of casting good guest stars with the likes of Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and Michael York making appearances. Also appearing here is Walter Koenig returning a couple of times as the Psi-Cop Bester. The episodes of this season are a somewhat mixed bad, mostly good but with the odd poor episode thrown in now and ... Read More:

This is not a comment on the series Babylon 5. It is a comment on the quality of the video image itself. I purchased this and the other series in expectation of moving from my VHS home recorded copies of these episodes to the quality we all expect to find on a DVD.

In parts the episodes on this DVD are a lower quality than the episodes I recorded myself several years ago. Where the quality is not less it can only be said to be equal to the old VHS tapes.

In addition, it looks as though the image has been zoomed in a very small amount to the extent that peoples heads occasionally slide off the top of the picture.

It also looks as though some tinkering has occured with the brightness and contrast. Frequently the picture is way darker than it should ... Read More:

ThirdSpace is average, Call to arms borders on the pathetic and the only movie that is really worth watching out of the set is River of Souls.

ThirdSpace: Cool idea which simply did not fit the format. It would have taken at least 4-5 episodes in order to develop it fully to the same depth as the Babylon main line. It was cramped into a small feature movie instead. It is clearly missing the depth of the Babylon 5 mainline. Some tolerable special effects, lots of holes in the plot and a really cheesy and stitch-ed up ending.

Call to Arms: Worse than an average Babylon 5 episode. Its only right to existence is to provide the link between the Crusader and Babylon 5. There are so many inconsistencies that it is not even funny. On top of that a number of the major supporting ... Read More:

I confess I acquired this film largely because I wanted a complete set. While it's something of a departure from the series itself some of the core values remain, and it was nice to see G'Kar featuring as a kind of elder statesman. Was it worth watching? Yes. Will I watch it again, often or at all? Possibly not.

Keeping this short and sweet, i dont want to spoil anything for anyone who hasnt seen it, this is a great sci-fi movie. On its own it could be a little confusing so i would reccomend seeing the first few seasons of the series first. It has a great story and acting and some of the best special effects in a straight to video and dvd release. The spaceships all move as they would in real life, no unrealistic WWII style dogfights here (Lucasfilm really need to brush up on their physics!), the Earth Force Starfury slides, rotates, and pulls off maneouvres that you will never see an x-wing do. And the Minbari ships are works of art. Buy it and you wont be dissapointed.

Babylon 5 is one of my all-time favourite shows and although this pilot episode for the series is nowhere near as good as the show itself, it is still enjoyable. As the alien ambassadors gather on Babylon 5 the Vorlon representative Kosh is the target of an assassination attempt and the stations commander Jeffrey Sinclair is implicated.

Although not nearly as good as the series itself, this pilot does include some of the things that made Babylon 5 so good, such as an interesting plot and generally good writing. On the downside much of the CGI effects used here are rather poor and some of the acting on display is truly atrocious. There are a few changes between here and the series proper, with three of the characters being replaced and some of the alien makeup being changed and refined but generally this ... Read More:
