1.The Outer Limits - The Original Series - Vol. 1 starring: Cliff Robertson, Robert Culp, Donald Pleasence, David McCallum, Martin Landau July 11, 2005

There are some good episodes, and some terrible. All the best episodes that I remember seeing on BBC from my school days are here, but I think 'the best of the outer limits' would have been better, drawn from the whole 1960's show. Despite the B/W and the rubber suits, some of the effects are quite good, and generally better than the new series, in story and atmosphere. I especially like 'The Mutant, The Guests, The man who was never born, Nightmare, Don't open till doomsday, and Forms of things unknown. Episodes which should have been left out.. ZZZZZ, Controlled experiment, Tourist attraction. 32 episodes in total.

I was rather dissapointed with this offering. The episodes lacked depth and mood, and some of my favorite episodes are on the other series, such as 'Worlds Apart' and 'Inconsistant Moon'. There's less of the other-worlds of the original series, with mainly just Mars if any off-planet at all, contrast that with the original series, being more adventurous and going anywhere they like in the universe to stage the shows. I don't think I'd bother with the other new series if they come out, but see what's on the second series of the original. As like the original, a 'Best of the Outer Limits' is what's needed in my opinion, although they won't make so much money on that, it would be value. I'm very disappointed with these mediocre 'themed' Outer Limits sets, why is juts about every tv show ever produced but Outer Limits being released as Season Box sets. I love the show, just very unhappy with these inferior sets. Bring on full season boxsets!!!!

I am going to differ with many of my fellow reviewers regarding the format here: I have long enjoyed the series 'Outer Limits', both the old series and the new series, but was not sure if I would ever find the means to collect all of the seasons. Perhaps it is because many of my favourite episodes are to be found in this collection that I don't mind the topical selection method, but it does serve to give a good overview of the several years of the new 'Outer Limits' series.
